How can you click vouch? (I thought I had enough karma to do all the extra ops). I don't agree w/the article but that's why comments and voting are for, not flagging which feels almost as censoring.

I wonder whose fault is that.. if you build a feature that almost on one will use, then is the 'API' too arcane, everyone too lazy, or are there no tools available to ease the pain?

True, which means laws can be passed to enforce this. Same with tobacco antitrust, trains, water, power, etc. Of course the costs might not be really worth it..

Dude ATI was in 2006, but in 2009 they divested Global Foundry in 2009 (which were a HUGE chunk of ATI's assets)

Even if you got the data legally, you might not want to disclose it, because i) It makes it seem more boring ("oh we just made an api call") ii) It opens the door to the other party saying that you violated the TOS (although they

TBH, visiting non-uber cities is a complete pain in the ass for me; I would prefer uber even at the same price. The are less likely to rip you off, easier to catch (just press a button), to keep a record on for reimbursements, to pay (by cc

I'm always surprised why more people don't just do F12, ctrl+shift+M (on Chrome) while writing their websites. Just four keystrokes :)

On my phone, I switched from Chrome to Firefox because many websites had ads that used the phone vibrator, others redirected to the play store, etc. It's insane and you can't disable it from Chrome...

10 years is the life of a VC fund, because that's the largest horizon that a wealthy investor is willing to part with his money even if it's not a large fraction of his wealth. To ask almost the same (6-8 yr vesting period) to a w

Yours is the most reasonable answer and I wish more engineers understood this. As long as there is a nontrivial fraction of engineers that don't, then startups can take advantage of these ridiculous vesting periods and terms.

Yes. Depending on what are you including, a better alternative might be to use Pandoc filters that change their output depending on the output format. So for latex you might end up with fancy figures side-by-side, but for word you just have
