How experienced a programmer do you have to be in order to apply? I'm a CompSci student and coded some CRUD apps for my startup (Clojure and Python), but I'm not a open source contributor, nor am I active as a contributor on Github or SO.

Indeed it's not evidence to the contrary. How about leaving the question open until proper research has been done? The fact that there are anecdotal reports of people sleeping polyphasically should at the very least hint at the possibility

In any case, I forgot to set my alarm tonight and woke up after exactly three hours, wham. Anybody trying to adjust to a new sleep schedule would need an alarm for some months to stay on track; that by itself doesn’t mean you’re constantly

This again? As mentioned in those HN threads, it has been rebutted: http://www.puredoxyk.com/index.php/2006/11/01/an-attack-on-p... Fact is there's not a ton of evidence for it not working out. There has been virtually zero research on

Pardon me, but who says Wikileaks are dead? Seems to me OP is the only one who does, and then he makes a big deal out of how Julian Assange behaved "badly". How about making a big deal of the financial blockade instead? If any Wikileaks-cop

I use a Chromebook and its crosh to ssh into a Linode instance with tmux for web development. Works like a charm, apart from the lack of UTF-8 in chrosh.

What about lag? I find sometimes on bad connections that tmux lags quite a bit (in Sweden, sever in UK). How do you deal with this? Surely packet loss and latency must've been a bigger problem a decade ago.

The article didn't do much for me, but this comment did. What you write about rings very true in my experience of writing papers and having arguments without a clear goal. One of the better HN comments I've read for a while.
