To be honest, what exactly did she want to accomplish with this? Where I live people are very hesitant of sharing their salary and doing something like this would be considered very rude. All it can possibly lead to is drama about salaries.

Those sneaky bastards, no way I believe this whole thing wasn't prearranged with Taylor Swift. Apple has been subject to public outcries over their greedy business models lots of times, but never did they give in so soon and easily. E

With the limited ways we're able to study brain disorders at the moment, it feels to me like we're trying to debug an user level application by looking at the signals that pass through the system bus.

I beg to differ. Most of these "grumbling devs" must have never seen what poor documentation looks like if they think Android's SDK has issues with it. On the contrary, its very well documented in my opinion. The tools are so

Hilarious how SpaceX gets $2.6 billion to develop human space flight, while Microsoft pays almost the same amount to buy Minecraft. Talk about ridiculous evaluations in the tech industry.

My award goes to Extended MAPI. It took me weeks of trial and error just to read and send email messages through an Exchange Server. I remember people were selling 3rd party wrappers for the API, because it was so horrible.

On the one hand I can't wait for 4k and high PPI mode adaption. Retina Macbooks already show just how pretty it is. But the whole thing doesn't seem ready yet outside the Mac ecosystem. I see lots of issues with 4k: - Going from 1

I agree, this is the real reason WhatsApp took off so quickly. Especially that it automatically uses your phone number as account-id and then goes through your address book to automatically populate your WhatsApp contact list. No other Inst

Man, that video, typical marketing bullshit. First scene shows a guy writing on a typewriter, next scene shows someone hanging up Polaroid pictures. Seriously? Show me why this app is useful and why I need it, instead of trying to lull me i

The success of King.com really bothers me. Sure their games are not cheap and made very well, but it seems the whole "game" and all mechanics are just designed to slowly get you hooked and extract money at the most susceptible tim

As a programmer with very little design talent, but basic Photoshop skills, this is exaclty what I do when I have to make something! Layer styles let you come up with something quite good looking, even if you don't really know what you

To be honest they also look kind of cool, while average smoke detectors don't. I imagine this being a big factor, since you're going to have one of these on the ceiling in every room.

yeah iPhone 4's have a line on top, while 4S's don't. Easy to see when someone is holding it in their hand.

This must be bullshit. Not that I have scientific evidence, but as a app developer I got quite good at identifying a device type just by having a quick glance at it and that's what I usually do to keep me busy in public transport and o

Probably a non-issue, because more Plutonium-238 can be easily created using existing infrastructure. As demand of this stuff goes up and supplies dwindle, someone is gonna make more of it sooner or later.

Not only are you helping the battery, but prefetching a lot of data, is also a good way to structure your app. It leads to better User Experience in the app if implemented correctly. If you start relying less on On-Demand connections in you

The simple truth probably is the company that made the app designed their Android version first and didn't bother to come up with a complete new app design for iOS, so they just kinda ported it. You can also find a lot of Android apps

Well that was in a time when Apps were self-contained software, before they started talking to the Internet and require a wide array of specific webservices to be online and functional. As developer you don't want to keep old services

Isn't it very naive of them to think they can do this unlicensed? They are basically using SquareEnix's IP to raise money for their project - that is not going to work.

10x is a lot though. Definitely not a positive for Ruby. People were making these comparisions between Java and C++ for ages, and called Java slow when something took 1.4x as long as native C++. Rails doesn't even try to compete.

Do people really want to roll their own Webservers in Go? That's like a lot of work and sounds like disasters waiting to be happening. Sure it has potential, but I'll wait till something mature comes along and then use that. In mean time if

iOS, as well as pretty much all other smartphones, also disable tethering on carrier's request, it just disappears from the menu. This doesn't have anything to do with the Nexus 7. It sucks and I don't know what the purpose is, given that d

Technically it stands for high DPI, not necessary high Resolution, but one implies the other I guess. Anyway "Retina" is used, because it's established and everyone knows what it means. Don't see the point in fighting terminology.

It was incredible short-sighted to force Metro upon Windows 8 in the first place and hope it will just work out somehow. Metro may be fine on a tablet, but is a inherently bad and tedious user-experience on the PC, and for people using PCs

Shouldn't it be something more like 20,000 km, since the equator is about 40,000 km long and we're looking at half of it? Anyway 6,371 can't be right though.

My vote goes to Soulver ( http://www.acqualia.com/soulver/ ), which is basically the best calculator app ever. Useful for so many things, from figuring out algorithms to doing taxes.
