On a side note: Anyone wondering how Paul the Octopus was able to predict 8 games in row? My little basic math skill tell me the probability of that happening is around 8^0.5 = 0.003~. So this really shouldn't have happend, makes me wonder

I know this is a joke, but I don't think they could afford it. T-Mobile is just a small division of a very big company.

I think the split between asia making the hardware and america the software is working very well for both sides. The world is round after all. Of course it's cheaper for us this way, but there's also quite a bit of know-how accumulation in

ah yeah good ol' "but Africa" reasoning. You can apply that logic to almost everything. Sorry but why don't you return your freshly bought iPhone and donate the money to charity's? And do you really need a car, can't you ride your bike? Do

No doubt, I gladly donated. I'd rather see a site asking for donations if their user-friendly business model isn't quite making enough then it turning into some kind of profit-driven popup-banner mess. Sometimes the community just needs to

This is seriously weird, I hope Apple has a good reason for this that goes beyond 'we don't like this kind of apps anymore'. While Google also used it's kill-switch recently, it was against malicious software, while this App doesn't look pa

God.. CSS Visited Hack again. WHY does nobody come up with something? I know it's a fundamental issue, but hell.. this is a massive privacy exploit. Please Google? W3C? Someone?

If you're gonna compete, you'll have to compete with the iPhone4 not 2007's iPhone. That said, I don't know if all these statements are true, but some would be quite dealbreaking for me.

To whomever put this custom skin over the SO Engine (and sure you're reading HN, aren't you?), that's an awesome job. This site looks really unique compared to Stackoverflow, Superuser etc. and quiet appealing too.

Heh, it seems a lot of Starcraft enthusiasts are lurking around HN. Last time I've been on /r/starcraft's IRC channel half of the people where programmers (no not progamers). Coincidence, you tell me! :)

I don't think piracy is such a bad thing. Imaging there's a gigantic library that has every music title, movie, TV show, book and software made by man in their shelfs and everybody has free access. Sounds like a desirable thing. Now the pro

Sandboxes have some nice advantages, but I think they would need to be really careful with the implementation. Too little sandbox and they are mostly useless, too much and you end up in the Disneyland-computing that is the iPad. Besides tha

Funny how Google was preaching for years how important a fast, and speedy website for success is, and now the largest online multi-player game is triggering 30sec. timeouts. -.-

Well I've seen Android booting on a 3GS but that's not very stable as of know, is it? If someone manages to get Froyo running flawless on an iPhone4 with all the hardware support (camera, dual-mic, gyro, compass etc.) I would probably get o

I didn’t try the crazy diets like Atkins or the Maple Syrup diet. Anything that requires eating crazy stuff is probably bad for your health. Now I'm starting to feel like an Atkins Zeolot, I've been defending low-carb on HN so much lately

Kind of off-topic, but since it's a discussion about iOS and Android, you know what I think would be the best thing ever that could happen to the iPhone? If Apple would officially support dual-booting Android. Think about it, Apple could cl

What makes me unhappy, it now becomes clear that 3rd generation 8gb iPods were just re-branded 2nd generation ones. Unlike the 16gb and 32gb model the 8gb didn't receive an hardware upgrade (more ram and 3GS CPU), so it doesn't support mu
