I have not seen any sources which explicitly state that FaceID doesn't work the same way as TouchID does, but perhaps it's the lack of specific details in the iOS Security Guide [0] that might have led to this assumption? In fact,

From the photos it looks like the display panel is driven by a Raspberry Pi. Adafruit makes it relatively straightforward to build the hardware part [1], now all that's left is the software that processes the audio and displays the vis

A few months ago, I came across a similar project: OneRNG [1]. The device is open-source and one of their goals is to be verifiable by someone who buys the device. There was an article on LWN about this too [2]. [1] http://onerng

Nice! I initially wanted to build a similar device using just an ATtiny85 that speaks USB using USBtiny [1] or V-USB [2]. It would be low-cost but also not secure. Using a crypto processor like the ATECC508A is obviously a saner choice. [1]

Print out your key on paper, label it descriptively and store it in a safe place (like in a safe), using something like Paperkey. [0] http://www.jabberwocky.com/software/paperkey/

i hope the author is not going to use this panel as-is because it send everything in clear. i would keep the front panel but retrofit a microcontroller in there to encrypt keypresses before it is sent.

Is there a process in place to handle such people? Do they get asked to leave (shortly after being hired), or are they moved to a role which doesn't require programming?

I thought this slide deck would cover the improvements introduced by Project Volta [1] in Lollipop. They introduced a JobScheduler API that developers can use to perform the batching that he described, as well as the Battery Historian for b

I heard of a HTML5-based alternative some time ago called the "ugoira HTML5 zip player". It uses a ZIP file of PNG/JPG files and renders the animation using JavaScript onto a <canvas>. There's a detailed slide deck

Coming from iOS, one thing that I didn't really like about Android was how clumsy the decryption process was. The process is detailed here [1] and it involves the framework being put in a special mode that only handles password entry.

This may not be obvious to some people (like my boss), but code reviews alone is insufficient; having a good technical design early on is more important. I've sat through several "code reviews" and they're always conduct

For crypto applications there isn't a strong enough financial incentive to design an ASIC specifically to do that. Maybe a GPU-based solution like oclHashcat[1] can be extended to do that. [1] http://hashcat.net/
