Whenever I use these services they are pretty much never as responsive as a local editor, which is to be expected I guess, but I don't see how this could replace someones dev environment if they're a serious programmer. Big compan

Yes but what happens when Windows programs try to interact with files in that path? That's why "Bash on Windows" will likely never be used in a production environment, and personally as a developer I see it as creating more p

Makes you wonder if the people developing windows are even using their own product as a development platform. I imagine they use some unix or unix like platform to program windows and thus the developers themselves rarely run into problems

I prefer doing things the way we're already doing them. Linux package management is already better than pretty much every other main stream OS. But that's the good thing about Linux is there is so much choice. I can choose to use

What if you're on shared system like a school computer and you want to be able to log into the same session in different classrooms? Most systems have a single human user anyway and there is no need for them to log out. For systems tha

Am I the only person who likes the idea of being able to logout and log back in again and have all my processes still running and arranged the way I had them? Maybe we just need a "hard logout" option for people who want everythin

Are there any high traffic web pages using Flask? I'm interested but when I look at job listings it's really rare I see anything for flask compared to React/Angular/RoR. If I was a python dev it seems like it might be wo

Wow all that work/configuration just to get a container running? I guess this is why Linux is winning the container wars. On most Linux machines you can spin up a container as simply as sudo lxc-create -n [name] -t [template]

What are you doing with python and go that "just works"? Writing scripts? It takes a lot more work to build a yelp clone with python than it does with react.

The cool thing about react is that it doesn't try to do everything. Compared to Angular react is minimalist. So that's why react is used so much: because it doesn't try to do everything, it's basically just javascript an
