Try building a modern looking website only for scrollbars to look like they are from 1990. They break immersion. Especially on artsy websites that try to immerse people.

They are a want. You can keep scrolling functionality without having scrollbars. If you write apps that serve the biggest demographic possible I get your sentiment. I dont want to serve to the biggest demographic possible, I want to serve s

I already face disability as i have to wear glasses to see properly. Still wont change the fact that I wont put the burden of making my apps accessible onto myself as they clearly aren't meant for disabled people and/or people tha

I guess this is a philosophical discourse. I simply build my own apps not for everyone and its not my problem if someone has a problem with that. If I build something thats meant for the public I try to build it accessible, but only if I fe

Shocker, apps do not have to be for everyone.

So if i am building my own house i should also spend thousands of dollars more to make it accessible? If my house isnt accessible do i also spit disabled people in the face?

I dont want users that need handholding anyway. I want my app to look good. Almost all scrollbars on all of my devices and browsers look ugly. Users that need handholding usually also are the more problematic users.

Nice, does it work with images? Like can I render images and place text on top of them, well positioned?

I usually hide them. I try to not use overflowing content, but when it has to overflow I hide the scrollbar because scrollbars disrupt the design and the standard ones are extremely ugly.

Seeding sounds like what's done by torrenting too no? How do you prevent people from distributing content they do not own?

A phone often is necessary if you run into issues while being outside. Let's not ignore the importance of being able to call for help if necessary. Can't blame the phone for yourself not being able to detach properly.

Sam Altman read a draft of this, I wont read anything that has to do with this idiot. Also poor programmers now equals idiots?

Commercial software is what pays my rent though. Why would I bother about open-source software other than personal interest?

You can call us poor programmers if that boosts your ego. The industry is still built upon people who can build fast. Go allows that and so does Javascript. You might not like it but that's what is earning most people their bread nowad

I am a software engineer and most of them I have met throughout my career do not work on tasks that require 24/7 silence. Basic communication is important for every task and if you cant handle that you are simply not suited for the job

Absolute skill issue. These kinda tasks usually demand lots of communication

I really don't like that we're focusing so hard on frameworks in web dev. The creator claimed that web dev has gotten extremely complicated. It's only complicated due to frameworks so One is not interesting to me at all. What

AI tooling that costs money does not provide anything better than the freely available tools. If you built some product upon it, I'm sorry but your product is not worth a dime.

Amazing tool, use it every week! Buuuut reading the main article it just sounds like the autor didn't want to take responsibility for their games. Like it's even required by law to provide your address, email and so on in Germany

I also enjoy writing code a lot. Sometimes I try to let GPT help me by me providing some context or debugging something. It's been good at that so far, as I sometimes don't have the time at work to scroll through the depths of the

I can imagine that this is helpful to some people, but when coding I ignore comments usually. Good docs and code is all I need.

Comments tend to get outdated quickly as your app grows. If you are not careful with your phrasing you might even introduce misinformation into your app. I'd rather read the code instead of comments.
