You live in a dream world if you think this is how apps are built in the industry... None of the apps I have worked on had tests or even up to date dependencies.

We are long past knitting RAM. You should go with the times. Development speed is key nowadays. People literally dont care about speed. If they did, Amazon & Facebook were long gone.

No. Only tech savy users care. And these are the minority of relevant users. Why do people still buy shit on Amazon despite Amazon being horribly slow?

For 99% of apps slow software is compensated by fast hardware. In almost all cases, the speed of your software does not matter anymore. Unless speed is critical, you can absolutely justify writing slow software if its more maintainable that

There's one simple argument to never touch Java: FactoryFactory produce ArgumentFactory, ArgumentFactory.builder().build(argument)

So how are hobbyists handling auth in their hobby projects? I am sure they cant commit to using OIDC if its that difficult to implement? This is something I try to understand since almost 2 years... Are they just using jwts?

It absolutely is. Every connection to your app also is a attack vector.

Why though? Why are devs so afraid of auth?

Some malicious mail that grants remote access to the employees device? Its not that hard to understand.

So for the sake of simplicity devs offload authentication to some 3rd party provider? Oauth/2 is for authorization though, i dont get where the authentication part comes from. They even write it is an authorization protocol.

Im just saying that all it takes is one employee to click onto the wrong URL to breach your apps security. I am not talking about the app itself. You can have all the security implemented the world has to offer and yet you cant get rid of h

The point is: security is fake. No app is truly secure. You can spend millions on app security and all it takes to breach that is one slip up of a human user.

Nah I feel like this is the right approach. Apps got too complicated to maintain safely. Web development should be accessible and have good standards. It should be easier to build webapps over the years but its becoming harder and harder.

Wasn't the reason for SSR to have more control over security and offload work from the client to the server? Let's not forget that the majority of the worlds population is using slow ass tech. We cant simply put huge workloads to

Whats good about OAuth if you dont require Authorization though? Most apps I know of mostly only need Authentication. Never implemented it myself so I really want to know

Another issue is that the article assumes companies will let go of all programmers. They will make sure to keep some in case the fire spreads. Simple as that.

In a unpredictable, hallucinating way. Who cares about human expertise when you can have a machine that acts like it has expertise in the same area? We deserve what is coming.

Thats the issue, people just copy and paste code from llms thinking "yeah, looks fine to me". It might be a skill issue, but personally it takes me a while to understand the code its giving me and even more on how to actually impl

I dont get it, everyone wants to work for big tech or big corporations in general and then wonder why they do stuff like this. Go to small companies, yes they pay less but also yes: you will have real impact and they actually need you.

I usually am in favor of a complete rewrite. I'd also prefer to not grow projects into multi million line monoliths. Just make multiple smaller ones that can interact independently with each other. Much simpler structure. Also safer in
