I'd be curious to hear a proposal on how Apple could implement an E2E encrypted messaging service in a way that it would be impossible for them to circumvent it in the future via a software update. I suspect it's not possible, and

That article does not say that Apple is encrypting the per-message key with an Apple public key (alongside the device-specific keys), just that it could. Yes, there are many ways Apple could bypass its own E2E encryption, but we haven’t see

Or they could push out a (targeted) software update that lets them do that silently. I don’t think they would, but they could.

Same. I’ve had nothing but fine experiences with them.

Santiago originally said if we need more than 8 decimal places, it can be done with an update. There’s nothing really fundamental in Bitcoin that is limiting it to 8 decimal places.

I'd place a lot of money on a bet that this kills Inbox. Inbox on iOS still doesn't support iPhone X, 6 months later. This tells me that engineers aren't doing any new work on it. (It has had updates every couple weeks with

Except you can literally draw a poop emoji as the signature and it’ll be happily accepted. How would that signify intent at a later dispute investigation?

I still don’t understand why we bother with signature at all though. Nobody checks it. Why not just “chip” if “chip+pin” doesn’t add anything?

I just listened to a podcast today about insider trading... and apparently, there’s not actually a law against insider trading itself. Technically what you get prosecuted for is stealing information, or something like that. Obviously there

A backup has redundancy already - your local copy + the backup. (edit: I’m talking about geographic redundancy. B2 does use redundancy inside the datacenter to protect from drive failure, etc)

I disagree there. Curling has tons of strategy associated with it (“chess on ice”) I’ve never seen in archery. In fact, curling is kind of like archery but you can knock opponents arrows around the target... Am I missing something with arch

Any counsel worth their salt won’t let them trade if there is any non-public material news, no matter what other reasons there may be for selling. This is why most high level execs will put in place pre-arranged plans (10b5-1) for selling a

“Sync’d read-state across multiple devices” is what sold me on Slack years ago. I had been trying to simulate it for a long time in IRC using various bouncers, but it never worked very well and was hard to set up for non-technical people at

On iOS at least, you can disable background activity. I’ve had Facebook’s disabled for years. I assume Android has something similar.

Definitely. However, speaking of myself personally, I was apprehensive of the touch screen when I bought it. I thought it looked cool but was worried about usability. 2 year (and one major UI refresh) later, I have no more concerns.
