This is a good point, and I'm not sure how it would play out. Depending on the specific reforms it may be self sustaining. But prestige and recruiting channels are not in and of themselves self sustaining.

I think this whole debate is centered on the shallow idea that "going to an Ivy League" in and of itself is what ordains "elite-ness". To unravel this, you first must consider the actual value proposition of Ivy Leagues

When are they going to make one of these with a Ryzen? It seems Ryzens are really rare among higher end developer laptops. Is there a technical reason or is it just Intel using their clout to block the major vendors/oems from using AMD

Definitely damaging to the YC brand. I'd like to see a postmortem on how these _blatant_ con artists got through.

I haven't had issues with plugin bloat, personally. A nice feature is you can disable/enable plugins per workspace so you can only load your Java plugins for your java projects, etc.

VSCode is much much faster than the popular IDEs (namely, IntelliJ) in my experience. I'd say it occupies a middle point between full IDE and text editor.

This is a meme in my family as well. I always took it as a mockery of affectatious formal speech. I never thought of it as a jab at the nouveau riche let alone of the Victorian era, but it seems plausible.
