So am I right in thinking that this is for browser only apps, as it doesn't include a server? At Yazz Pilot we made the ability to output apps as a HTML file, but to have the whole dev environment client side is pretty amazing!

Well done Peter and Jan. I always thought it would be google or Microsoft, but good job!

Yeah you can use SQLite as a file format. We use it to store our project data at https://github.com/zubairq/pilot

My prediction (95% confidence): Snaps will become installable from Windows (via WSL) and Microsoft will buy Ubuntu and try to take over the installers for other Linux distros by having them use Snap as the main repo. This will be Microsoft

You can actually partially persist data on the client side in SQLite, as you can embed the data in you html, which is exactly what we do with our product

Again I love SQLite! https://github.com/zubairq/pilot Would not be possible without it! Why? SQLite works on the server, in Electron (barely), and purely client side on the browser, and is fast!

Deno is awesome. We had a similar idea at Yazz Pilot and are currently building out the ability to import a subset of Javascript code from a URL. Currently it only supports code of the form: pilot https://raw.githubusercontent.

As the author of a no code tool I disagree with this article. I think that we will need even more developers to manage the apps churned out by no code tools. Tools may go up the abstraction later, but developers will always need to debug AL

If you want to program inside a container you could use something like yazz pilot which is designed to do exactly that https://github.com/zubairq/pilot

Thanks so much for SQLite. Amazing and stable database. Yazz Pilot ( https://github.com/zubairq/pilot ) is built on it

Good points. If typescript becomes the standard then for sure we would consider whether we should move our product to typescript

At https://yazz.com we use visual programming to lay out forms, which are then scripted with code. Used in large enterprises. Is that not visual?

at yazz we have bet on javascript when many others are moving away. why? because javascript is here to stay as the defacto Browser language. Show me a Mainstream browser that plans to drop JavaScript support and we will Drop JavaScript too

Yazz Pilot ( https://github.com/zubairq/pilot ) was originally written in Lisp (Clojure) but we switched to Javascript, simply because it was easier to get third party developers on board with Javascript compared to Lisp

Totally agree with this. At yazz.com we take exactly the Visual Basic approach too of building software from front to back and it works for simple things

Super, I would love to see this as we already in the early stages of building something similar but ours is pretty crappy UI. Making it slick is the hard part

But I guess you don't always need to configure the systems underneath, if you buy Kubernetes as a service from Google or Amazon, is that correct?

Well since most new apps are web services and kubernetes is the standard then shouldn’t we be treating it as the new OS later?
