Huh! Falling into exactly this trap, I ended up writing a tiny Tcl interpreter for the embedded systems years ago: https://zserge.com/posts/tcl-interpreter/

A humble attempt to make an even smaller but barely readable 3x2 font (probably the smallest possible) : https://zserge.com/posts/tiny-font/

Just started learning Zig, but I'm already amazed by the language. Feels so intuitive, simple and productive, really a good choice for quick prototyping. I'm glad to see Zig being used as a "successor" to C in projects l

Nice and clean! I have been playing around the possibility to make a 2x3 bitmap font, but that turned out to be rather a cryptic constellation of pixels than a proper font: https://zserge.com/posts/tiny-font/

I have been using quilt a lot a few years ago. We have been working on some embedded systems, and were receiving the base firmware sources of questionable quality from some shady Chinese manufacturer as a zip (or sometimes rar) archive on a

You mean like a web search engine? A quick search on "gio lib" shows a wiki for Gtk's GIO as the first result. You might narrow down the search adding domain-specific keywords to it, like "gio lib golang" to find so

I think Chinese numbered notation does something similar: https://web.stanford.edu/group/scme/cgi-bin/wordpress1/chine... Notes longer than quarter look like `1`, `1-` and `1---` which creates visual spa

I was only speaking about one-man personal projects. In my case, I shipped 3 of them (nullitics, lalatabs and a brand new version of onthesamepage) in 3 months. Depends on the project type and on the person, I guess.

I start small: vim, makefile, bare Go with no dependencies. I add things only if they improve the end product from the consumer perspective (either FRs or NFRs). I even used to deploy things as systemd services, unless containers make thing

As the one who works simultaneously with macOS and Linux, I would be happy to see some unification. I'm not speaking about visual differences or look-n-feel of the apps, but common tasks like desktop switching or window switching - thi

Zig code looks way more readable to my eyes, damaged by the years of staring at C/C++. Also the learning curve for Zig so far seems to be relatively shallow. The documentation is rather "ok-ish", comparing to Go for example.

Seems like there's a bit of exaggeration here. "Not willing to pay" != "not willing to pay 10+€/month for 30 distinct semi-random numbers each month". There are plenty of people willing to pay low prices (compa

If the content of your blog is not too niche - one can easily live without analytics by just looking at the numbers of upvotes on HN/Reddit etc. However, for starters and for very narrow topics some kind of analytics would still be use

I am currently working on exactly this! I have always been dreaming of a low-cost, zero-effort web analytics. So far I have made an open source library/service, I've been using it for my blog and a few other sites for over two mon
