I think HN overlaps a lot with what I imagine from OP's description. I personally would want more content along the lines of showing what random projects people are working on and far less focus on the companies that a particular VC fi

A big chunk of responsibility for teams doing cloud devops is cost attribution. Cloud costs are incurred by services and those services are owned by teams. Those teams should be billed for their costs and encouraged (via spiffs or the perf

Point of order: afaict currently keys can be put in a shared vault but only keys in a private vault can be accessed by the agent. So the workflow would be everyone copies the shared keys into their private vault.

The documentation covers that. tl;dr: you can pin public keys to hosts https://developer.1password.com/docs/ssh/agent/advanced#ssh-...

Not OP but the obvious use case for Wordpress is the install directory itself. Deploy to one server and have all servers sharing the EFS get the update at the same time.

I built VMSave a number of years ago to fulfill a request from some family members. My definition of "success" for it is that it helps people, that it's relatively maintenance free and that it sustains itself via donations. E

My house has 350A split across two meters because we have a ground source heat pump which has a special electric rate. I don't think we ever actually use that much power.

Do you feel that using a virtualized router with other things on the box puts you at greater risk? I.e. you're putting an awful lot of eggs in that one basket. I've considered setting that up before but shied away from it.

I agree with all of your recommendations. I use Home Assistant running in a VM on a normal machine as a sensor fusion platform and for dashboards. Every non-trivial thing is then an AppDaemon[1] app running in a separate VM on the same mach

The pro move is to set up a password-protected hidden guest Wi-Fi with client isolation and use it for every IoT device that needs internet but no local access. Bonus points if you put it on an isolated VLAN but that's homelab 201.

Yeah, a thing that I wish Tailscale could do is hand off an attestation of some sort that says a TCP connection is being used by user X who is authorized by rule Y. Maybe "magic TLS client certs" is a thing coming on the horizon.
