Newer versions of Z-Wave are encrypted for "secure" devices, which afaict is most of them. My door locks are all set up in secure mode, and in fact if they're not linked in secure mode they're read-only.

How do you find using GSuite (etc) for family accounts? I've been considering it for a bit but I'd love to hear about your experience.

I've been working from home for almost a decade, two thirds of my career to date. Prior to that I was in either open bullpen-style offices (everyone in a room facing out) or sharing an office with two or three other people. I will neve

On my phone pressing the power button five times quickly starts a 10 second timer and then it auto-calls emergency services and I'm pretty sure this is the default.

My internet frequently (although less lately) stalls out for minutes at a time, once or twice a day. I don't want my AP to kick me off wireless when I'm refreshing my monitoring app waiting for internet to come back up, or for me

My understanding is that Instant On APs drop their wifi clients when they lose internet access and that this is billed as a feature. Maybe that's changed recently.

All of my wireless gear and most of my switching is UniFi running against a self-hosted controller without cloud access. This works fine. However, UniFi Protect is hardware only. You have to have either a UDM, a CloudKey Gen2 Plus, or a UNV

I use a 43" 4K LG monitor (not TV) as my every day work screen, positioned about five feet from my face. I have macOS set to scale it up about 25". I can't really say I'm more productive on it than just using my laptop,

Sure. There are plenty of platforms you can start with that use less power. For the record I haven't actually measured it, that's just a guess. I'll throw it on a power monitor sometime and check.
