No, that’s exactly the parent’s point. Date always refers to a single concrete point in time, a time zone is only needed when parsing the date or formatting it for output.

Much more interesting (IMHO) is the Giant Steps animation by Michal Levi: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rh6WTAHKYTc It perfectly shows the structure of the music. The later music video One (set to music of Jason Lindner)

There is a big difference between print and web: by the time you rip the ads out of the newspaper you have already made it to the ad statistics (“our newspaper sells X copies daily”). On the other hand, with an ad blocker an ad load is neve

They have to waste your bandwidth in order to pay for the content you came to read. If you’re not happy with that, don’t read it .

The point is that if you don’t like an ad-supported website, you should simply not read it, not strip the ads and read it anyway.

I love and believe in what I am working on, I usually can’t wait to get out of bed and start programming, and that’s exactly why I force myself to stop after a reasonable number of hours. Because I know 80 hours a week (or 40 hours a week

Specifying exactly what is needed is coding. The hope for some kind of high-level language you would generate the actual code from is decades old, see compilers. (And it does reduce coding times tremendously!)

I always wonder if this could be done once and for all languages, instead of Ruby making bundler, Haskell Cabal sandboxes or stack, Perl Brew, etc. Is this where Nix is going?

My point is: I tried several times to write something in Haskell, I really want to like the language. But each time I felt too stupid for it, it just feels like too much work. In Elm I got a working app in a day and enjoyed the experience.

I am one of the people who are interested in Haskell and find its documentation lacking. I don’t miss comprehensive language books, I miss module documentation. It almost looks as the Haskell community has something against examples in docu
