Indeed, their cards are neat. I no longer use it as both Starling and Revolut have better UX and charges. Some day hopefully startup banks might offer customisation options when you order your card.

We use a combination of heuristics and integrations with the most popular websites. In most cases we'll suggest relevant tags. Give it a go and let us know if it works well for you. We're still tuning it.

Unfortunately goodreads looks like its on maintenance mode in the last few years. The ability to post updates on books / publications which don't have ISBN is the feature I miss the most :-(

For some channels / topics I let the clients provide a `refresh_interval` parameter upon joining to tackle similar problems. I'm also curious to see your state machine, maybe it's something worth extracting to a middleware.
