Ukraine has been historically divided into pro-West Ukraine in the west and pro-Russia Ukraine in the east. I think the only peaceful resolution to this conflict is having two independent states.

This escalated quickly. From a creative interpretation of the interview, to a lengthy plea from pg defending his honor, and now a whole conference for women. I myself have nothing against such a forum, but the way it came about to be is rid

His writings do carry a condescending tone, with a faint "l33t hax0r" taste. I think it might be a case of a sudden fame multiplied by the teen spirit :)

Apart from the open sourceness of browsers, it's worth to consider the culture of the companies behind them. Speaking of Mozilla, a non-profit, they have always cared about user rights and privacy and stayed true to their ideals for mo

I can not accept a "I had to follow orders" rationalization, especially from the giants like Google. It was routinely used by the Nazi officers at the Nuremberg Trials. They had orders, were "afraid of reprimand", and so

Did this letter get a penalty? With 581 points, it's now off the front page. EDIT: Interestingly enough, "Female Founders" plea to the public by PG is at 360 points, whooping 402 comments, and the 2nd place. Clearly, "se

I'm sorry, but this is a ridiculous continuation of a ridiculous drama that came out of a ridiculous out of context treatment. We've become overly sensitive and prone to offense over trivial matters. Accusation of sexism or racism

Their promotion style is rather interesting [1]. Implementers such as AGL are bypassing the WG, choosing to emit I-Ds and implementing and deploying because there is little to be gained from WG discussions. This is not necessarily a bad th

I find it sadly amusing to see people enamored with yet another prop for Gmail workflow, when just a few months ago we learned that our Gmail is being casually read by NSA, likely with Google's knowledge and assistance.

We are working with Google right now to resolve this. They’ve been really great, helping us identify changes we need to make. As if they don't know what they did. These guys are toxic. I'd ban them for a year.

There are laws and there are American interests that tend to have precedence. It's about risk assessment - how much of a fallout can be expected. In case of Russia, it's likely to be substantial, so the US don't intervene. If

When it takes a public outcry on HN for a company to do their job, I no longer deal with such a company. Simple as that. I don't care if you raised $25 million - if you can't treat your users fairly, you deserve neither.
