Whenever I read that "you should be using X", credibility of the author rapidly diminishes for me.

I think this statement is unnecessary. Eich's personal opinion on the matter has never been imposed or interfered with official Mozilla business. It's one of the most ethical companies I know.

I can't imagine Carmack working for Facebook. This is surreal. As Palmer noted in his blog post he was skeptical when Facebook first approached them with the idea. I suppose Facebook eventually made a monetary offer they couldn't

I like Ghostery better. It breaks less websites for me and provides more data on each particular tracker with a source link and a description for the company behind it. Disconnect just shows a title with a number. It has a nicer and more fu

I'd like to offer a different approach - do not organize a separate work environment. Do not build a copy of your day job routine at home. Try to reset your mind off the 9 to 5 work mode schedule. Be free and open to new experience. Le

I'm sorry to clip your rebel wings, but the US isn't going to start a new Cold War on account of a coup in some Eastern European country. You drastically overestimate the importance of this event for an average American. It's

I suppose if at some point Larry Page himself confirms that they did know all about NSA surveillance and actively participated, people will still find ways to acquit the beloved company :) I'm not sure if it's the force of the &qu

Instrumental in this message for me was this part: There is no honour amongst hackers any more. 10-20 years back a term hacker had a close relation to a certain moral conduct emphasizing freedom of knowledge. Today with a mass market of s

The US has military bases and troops deployed around the world with wars waging in the Middle East and special ops in Africa and other locations. That doesn't seem to bother people. Russia decides sending troops to protect predominantl

The only faith I have in this story is that, perhaps, people will learn from this example and will be able to spot a con man next time when they see one.

MtGox has been lying and scheming all the way, showing complete lack of respect for either their users or Bitcoin community at large. They should have been gone and prosecuted a long ago. I have no sympathy for Mark Karpeles. He's a sh

I'd like to have a honorable mention of Archlinux here. Arguably, it has the easiest package management out there. To create a package you write a single PKGBUILD file with a few required fields (like pkgname, pkgver, etc) and a bash b

I yet to see a single positive report on the Sochi Olympics. If I was a conspiracy theorist, I might think there's a semi-hidden agenda to discredit the games.

It is the license that gives you the right to use the software. How you acquire the software is of little importance, as long as you have (and paid for) the license. It works for Windows as well. It is perfectly legal to use an "illega
