Well one difference is that the people who work in the government bureaucracies are still citizens, and are able to vote for or against the leaders that manage them. Workers don’t have a say in who manages the company or how they do it.

I’m optimistic about worker coops, and would love to see them become more commonplace. I’ve noticed a lot of tech coops are dev shops, which kind of makes sense, but I hope more product focused tech coops become successful as well.

That’s true, but a lot of the higher profile activities attributed to Anonymous was the particular group the parent comment is talking about. I know Kirtaner (founder of 420chan) was involved and has been talking about it a lot lately.

It’s probably not worth it to put some government agency’s page behind a ddos mitigation service before an actual attack. Those services can be expensive, and as has been mentioned in this thread, the FSB’s homepage isn’t really critical to

If node shares import syntax with browsers, it’s easier to write code that runs on both platforms. As far as leftpad, this isn’t that much different from using a package manager. You either cache your dependencies, or rely on a third party

The defining feature of a worker coop is that it’s owned by the workers. That means they can’t give shares to VC’s. I’m sure there’s hybrid models where the company is only majority owned by workers, but I don’t know how common they are and
