This isn't a novelty it will crush the low end of the PC market. No one cares if the next iteration will be better with 12GB of ram. The workloads that people say that 8GB can't handle will be ones that the actual users will eithe

The M4 Ultra doesn't exist and there is more credible rumors for an M5 Ultra. I wouldn't put a projection like that without highlighting that this processor doesn't exist yet.

Getting 512 GB of ram at the price point is cheaper than everything else. That’s why Apple stopped production to divert for the M5 ultra.

You are totally right. Also, I think it's basically to avoid only one port to charge and use for connectivity.

It's interesting that to get to the price point of $499 (edu) or $599 that what Apple did was - No touchID on the base model - 8GB of RAM - USB 3 and the second port is USB 2 - No MagSafe. But, you can still get a 512 gb of SSD and it

Yesterday I ran qwen3.5:27b with an M1 Max and 64 GB of ram. I have even run Llama 70B when llama.cpp came out. These run sufficiently well but somewhat slow but compared to what the improvements with the M5 Max it will make it a much faste

I've only seen a performance hit in rendering all of the icons they have put throuhgout Tahoe and I have had dark mode on. My total experience is about the same and I do like I can color and change the icons easily like classic macOS.

The whole purpose of Chrome is to have google search by default in people's browsers. Once they have a large market share nothing else really matters. If people truly cared about speed Google would have changed it already.
