It also helps because software is one of the rare engineering fields where code is non-destrictive and can be changed after the fact. The carpenters trick of measure many times, cut once, can instead just be cut and re-size if wrong size, w

Indeed. One can even game review systems by leaving errors in for the reviewers to find so that they feel good about themselves and that they've done their job. The meta-science game is toxic and full of politics and ego-pleasing.

The problem is most academics just do not have the time to do this for free, or in fact even if paid. In addition you may not even have access to the references. In acoustics it's not uncommon to cite works that don't even exist o

The biggest issue with papers for me today is that they don't allow videos as anything other than supplemental materials to be downloaded, or linking to a web-page that has them. I want to embed gif's or videos in my papers direct

Honestly the biggest failing is just SEO spam sites got too good at defeating the algorithm. The amount of bloody listicles or quora nonsense or backlink farming websties that come up in search is crazy.

I mean even at my supposedly top uni in the UK 60-80% of the class got a first, depending on if a COVID year or not. Like 1% gets a 2:2 or below....

Is this that impressive? In my high-school there were roughly 200 people in the year group and I'm pretty sure most of them could list off practically everyones names and something about them?

Good faith doesn't mean you can waste people's time. It's the reason why patents for perpetual motion machines are banned in most countries. The inventors often genuinely believe they've done it and want to help people,

GDS's budget is about £90 million a year or something. There are many contracts that are still spent on digital, for example PA consulting for £60 million (over a few years) which do a lot of the gov.uk home-office stuff, and their fre
