Sounds like an argument to keep the feels police out of software dev. We have significant, documented evidence of assholes producing world changing software. We can’t do the same for the inverse personality type, can we? I’d rather have ama

Strong disagree. The CoC, by design, creates more conflict than it resolves. You have now painted a target on your project, every activist that finds your CoC in non-compliance now has: 1) a means to proposition your submission 2) a cudgel

In my experience the people who, when asked about the technical merits of X, immediately dive into value judgements of a “community” around it are best ignored. If these types of people are in leadership positions, it’s too late and you nee

It absolutely is, unless you allow xenophilia to overcomplicate the issue. You don't need to completely bork your string implementation to support every language ever concocted by mankind. No one is coding in cuneiform.

Except almost everyone always means #2. No one asked for strings to be ruined in this way, and this kind of pedantry has caused untold frustration from developers who just want their strings to work properly. If you must expose the underlyi

I’m just mad we’re losing out on “Planet X”. When I was a kid Pluto was a planet so the new one was X (10) and it was cool. Now this new planet is just going to be planet 9 again… totally lame.
