Ah didn't see this comment and I asked the same. Yes, right? The energy has to come from somewhere...

Wouldn't this eventually slow down Earth's rotation? The rotational kinetic energy of our planet is 1/5 M * R^2 * w^2 with (approximately) M = 6e34 kg, R = 6.3e6m, w = 7.4e-5 rad/s, which gives approximately 5e36 joules.

Same… I’ve tried everything (or hopefully not). Does anyone have a recommendation on how to play this on M-series macs?

I’ve lived and worked in France for three years. There are many things I’ve learned about it, some good some bad, but certainly one of them is that France is a country that can show real leadership.

Is the idea of roots swapping places related to Riemann surfaces? A bit like the sqrt function being defined on two copies of the complex plane glued together.

I'm a theoretical physicist, I've thought about entanglement for decades. It's magic: if I gave you infinite (classical) engineering powers, you could not achieve what entanglement can do. Unfortunately the typical CHSH inequ

Here is my solution (surely not unique). The two questions to ask are "Are you the lying coin flipper?" and "Are you the honest coin flipper?". These are answered as (NO, YES, NO) and (NO, YES, YES), respectively, by the

1. usually in these riddles the entities are oracles, so for simplicity let's say they are all-knowing goblins. 2. the coin flip is hidden from the player and it only influences the goblin being honest or a liar. the coin flipper gobli

Is anyone aware of a formalization of the idea that to get “symbols” out of fuzzy probability distributions one needs distributions whose value goes exactly to zero over some regions of the domain? I.e. Gaussian mixtures won’t cut it. And t

There is another version of this puzzle with a third goblin who flips a coin and depending on the outcome he will lie or tell the truth. The player is allowed 3 yes/no questions and the objective is to assign the three identities unamb

I love tailscale! I am now on vacation and all my devices can still use pihole running on a raspberry pi at home on the other side of the world. And it was trivial to set up!

Goodness, the music that is produced has almost no discernible time signature. I don't know if my brain is faulty, but I find it extremely annoying to listen to.

The thing I hate the most about not being able to afford a home is that rent is sky high and it makes it basically impossible to have another kid. Not without significant problems and risks at least.

Sure sure, you can ignore that wording. The point is that the first measurement determines the state of the particle undergoing the second measurement.

Quantum physicist here. My PhD back in the day was about the entanglement between downconverted photons. I've thought about this more than I like to admit. While I appreciate the blog post, it seems a bit disingenuous. I hope everyone

If you are able to cross two images for the 3D effect you can also do it to spot differences like a savant in “spot the differences” games. Give it a try: https://spotthedifference.games/ You’re welcome.
