One application would be to embed redis with the online documentation. This would allow to not only show examples but make them executable as well. The user could play with them without having to install anything. Most of these "try X&

Wouldn't it be more fair to compare Gotalk to Kite's underlying dnode-protocol[1] ? Personally Gotalk's protocol seems much better thought out; size-prefixed messaging, rpc & streaming support, multiplexing (especially im

It always seemed such a bad idea to me in the first place. If an actor is so predictable in the market, how can you prevent other people from benefiting from it ? Pump&dump. > It introduced the cap in September 2011 and, in 2012, spe

The algorithms are usually statistical which by definition makes them prejudiced. Targeted ads only mean targeted to some group that they believe you belong in. Maybe some day each person will be exactly profiled but it's not the case

The article is basically a rant. I was hoping the author would go more into layer violation issues. Most of the interesting stuff from HTTP/2.0 comes from the better multiplexing of requests over a single TCP connection. It feels like

If the target is security sensitive, there's whole classes of errors that are avoided by parser generators. They are also useful to use while shaping or discovering a syntax. Parser generators will quickly show you where the irregulari

The biggest annoyance with NTPD is that it will give up synching if the time delta is too large. It just shows that the software was primarily coded to be a server. If you just use NTPD to keep your machine times in sync `chrony` is a bette

Yes it's true that socket sharing is not optimal for load-balancing scenarios. Here you would use 1 crank/socketmaster process per process that you want to run and a haproxy in front. Their goal is not to do load balancing but to

This is something the process manager should handle. With this approach each language and program has to implement the fd-passing and restart coordination. It also doesn't integrate really well with systemd/upstart because they wa

You still want some form of coordination to only stop the old process when the new one is live. The best place to be to know about the life of a process is being it's parent process (because you can call wait(pid)) and in that case you

Go's error handling works well in small programs but there's a couple of issues. One is that it quickly becomes hard to find out where errors really came from. Consider this idiomatic code: func MyFunc(input int) (output int

It's the same. In you're making a big enough transaction your bank is going to get flagged and look into your banking activity. How is that not a breach of privacy too ? Privacy is a continuum.

Both curl|sh and git checkouts tend to end up in production deploys so it's interesting to compare them. Both introduce a point of failure if the remote host becomes unavailable and you need to deploy new machines. The curl|sh method i

If that's the symptom then I would recommend using different SSH users instead of everyone sharing the same account. It allows each user to use it's own config and also makes `who` more useful.
