Windows is a step ahead of OSX with it's Private/Public networks distinction. Having little snitch installed on OSX it's staggering to see how many core services are trying to access external services, most of them on port 80

A new ship is created and the old ship is sailing towards garbage-collection unless other objects are still holding references to that value. This is going to add more pressure on the garbage-collector for sure.

The victim here is not the government but the people it's supposed to serve. They are providing a bad service if data (likely ours but they don't say) gets stolen away.

This looks great. Do you have any benchmarks that compare transfer speeds compared to SSH ? What is the canonical replacement to `tar czf - /some/folder | ssh user@host "tar xvf -C /some/folder -"` ? Key manage

I think that Chrome users are relatively unaffected by this if they installed the extension trough Google Play thanks to Chrome's security model. In that case I think it's just routing the traffic trough their proxy and not instal

I can see how this could improve the resolving latency slightly, at the expense of more network traffic. Like you said, it must be tricky to get that integrated properly. It seems like a weird optimization to do and unrelated to VPN. Maybe

New protocol for "Internet of Things" called Weave. Looks like it's going to use JSON or type-compatible. They didn't address why existing solutions aren't good.

Couldn't one write a chain macro instead ? That way you don't have to rely on the library to return self. chain!(dialog, set_title("blah"), set_size_piels(100, 100));

Grooveshark is also a good delivery target for Flash-based exploits since the music player also depends on it. I remember times where some sketchy ads would crash the flash plugin consistently.

That was quite fun to read. The point about Go being too pedantic and thus hindering exploration is something I've felt too. Some of that pain was mitigated by the Sublime Text Go plugin that has shortcuts to add/remove imports.
