Thanks! I'll also enjoy responding to customer emails whenever I want to (=immediately), and actually being able to make sales calls.

The thing is: the Dabbleboard (vector-based) interface is not optimized for that kind of drawing, which bitmap-based tools (like MS Paint) handle better. Biggest feature "hole" would be the lack of a bitmap eraser.

Yep, both on the product-development side as well as the other (dark) side.

To be honest, it's not as firm as on the previous vine, but falling (together with the rush of worrying about it) can be lotsa fun too :).

Why the installed plugin? Tokbox has a great Flash-based solution (which Dabbleboard also uses). Maybe the plugin does P2P.

Some good tips. I learned early on that sticking to a script doesn't work for me though. If I memorize it too well and then make even a 1-word error -> I think "oh crap..." and get more nervous -> more mistakes -> positive-feedb

IMO chrome is overall ahead as long as it's the only browser with a separate process per tab. (Its memory management is a nice bonus too.)

Technology doesn't evolve independently of a market for it. While "make something people want" is true in any economy, the problem is that what people want changes with the state of the economy. So startup founders need to reassess the mark

IMO abandon ship == near-$0 valuation. Although I didn't know about the 1/3 odds of a mediocre return (defined as 1x?) for VCs. The main point of my (admittedly still simplistic) graph was that the VC probability distribution is bi-modal.

Even if the peak for non-VC was raised, it would still be too simplistic. This is probably more like what the probability distribution looks like: http://www.dabbleboard.com/main/public?created=dummy8&my... VC is characterized by larg

Cofounders exert a lot of peer pressure. I'd be surprised if being in physical proximity to other startuppy friends generally matters much, considering we do some of that interaction online (HN/Facebook/email/etc.) anyway.

If you don't need investors or cofounders/employees, there is no advantage to a startup hub. You could live anywhere with an Internet connection and a (VoIP) phone. In fact in such a situation it makes sense to live in an area with lower co

One trick is to completely turn off the backlight (can be done on MBPs), and treat the display as a reflective screen. It isn't perfect: looks almost as washed out as with max brightness on the backlight, but without the battery drain. Defi

In a small startup, everyone needs to take a lot of initiative. But in a BDC (big dumb corp), there are several roles where initiative doesn't matter much. In fact it's challenging to both encourage initiative as well as control chaos at a

All except the look-and-feel bit. Mac users want apps to have the Mac look-and-feel, though perhaps Windows and Linux users aren't as adamant about it, so maybe a Mac-ish look-and-feel can be the common denominator. Also many users wouldn't

I'm waiting for a 14/15" notebook with a Netbook-class processor. It would be light, have great battery life, and be cool. If they can put those processors in desktops ("Nettops"), they should be able to put them in standard-sized notebooks

Design looks great in general. I clicked on Xbox360. Suggestions: 1. Don't show an item in the results if there are no sellers. Or at least say "None available" on the results page. 2. For items that have multiple sellers, indicate the pric

I'm assuming more money would be needed only for further development, but the product can launch now (or days from now). If some features are not ready for prime-time, turn them off and launch with what works well.

If he's close to launching, he should just launch. If it clicks with even a few people, that'll be the source of motivation. Though he should probably get rid of the non-committed cofounder (hoping the equity is properly vested): great cofo

You can draw curves without holding anything. Just has to be curvy enough for it to detect it's a curve and not a straight line.
