That's somewhat intentional, but I can see how that isn't obvious. At the signup screen, I guess we should add a checkbox with "Copy drawings made as Guest1234 to new account".

Don't make any yet from the website, though we're planning to offer a premium version with more features at some point (SSL, view-vs-edit access control, SVG export, etc.). We're fortunate to have gotten a couple of custom whiteboard contra

You may remember we had launched Dabbleboard on HN a few months ago: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=202798 . For those who haven't checked it out before, it's an online whiteboard with a completely reinvented UI ("a digital whiteboard

Yahoo BOSS's terms do not require attribution though: http://developer.yahoo.com/search/boss/ . I don't think most users would care as much either; we hackers care a lot coz we're baffled with "how in the world did this one guy do this?!"

I predict this story will evolve into one of (lasting) success, and be inspirational to other entrepreneurs. Strangely enough, I'm already inspired, even though Muxtape hasn't yet gotten off the downs and back into the ups.

You're right, sponsored results aren't just for idiots. But the article makes a valid point too. A substantial fraction (maybe majority) of web-users are probably not tech-savvy enough to know the difference between free and paid links.

(Warning: Following comment irrelevant to OP's subject.) Wow, that's amazing! There're so many interesting mechanical (and electro-mechanical) innovations on your Technology page. My appreciation for Hacker News just went up several notch

That's an interesting point of view. Apart from financial gains for founders, acquisition also makes sense for the consumers in many cases. E.g. it makes sense for the company building a spreadsheet app to get together with the ones buildin

Almost all acquisitions fail? Could you elaborate why you believe that? Will you not consider acquisition as an exit strategy?

Really? They're paying a little more than 1x the revenue per subscriber, which sounds like a great deal. It's not an ad-supported web2.0 company.

The reason the arguing never ends is because the Mac faithful deny that a Mac is actually more expensive. No one would say "but the Solstice is the same price as the Boxster, if you just drop a more powerful engine in the Solstice..."

I thought baazu.com sounded cool, and it means "close/near" in Hindi, which could apply to lots of things. But I don't plan to sell :)

How come this contest doesn't have the standard legal rules "only in 48 US states" and "at least 18 years of age"? Every contest I see has those, though I'm curious why.

There's a similar problem with making sales calls, or with any other activity that requires synchronous communication/interaction (i.e. not email). I have the same problem.

You're right. I haven't completely settled on this yet, but I may want to take just the founder->CTO route, rather than founder->CEO. A CTO would have to deal with a lot less in sales/customer-service/etc. (I find a small dose of th

Since the Launchboxers appear to be watching this, can you share what you thought of the Launchbox experience? Are you moving to the valley (DC sounds like a weird place for a startup)?

These are pretty impressive. Definitely closer to a YC batch than a TechStars one. I could see myself using quite a few of these, especially JamLegend (I hope they'll allow compatibility with a Rock Band drumset).

I don't understand why Flash is so bad. The general concept of having a plugin with a rich built-in API makes sense for a lot of reasons (natively compiled code in the plugin, smaller download of additional code). The problems with Flash ar
