Why isn't he charging for it? I'm not sure if that should make me less ("he can't figure out pricing") or more impressed ("he doesn't care about just money").

That would be an SR flop, which -like the JK one- is taught in academia but hardly (if ever) used in industry. I was referring to the edge-triggered D flop; it can also be built from gates but it should be a primitive element. If the object

If the creator of the tool is reading: 1. Please add support for sequential logic with flops. 2. Minor bug: the "input" and "output" labels are reversed on the left pane.

I hate that Apple is turning me into a hypocrite. I keep condoning their acts of bullying just because I like their shiny products. Any other company and I would have stopped funding it by now.

Heyzap's going for any-publicity-is-good-publicity? On the negative side: 1. It's a bad game both in terms of graphics and gameplay, though I recognize I can't expect much better so soon 2. It's inaccurate; swine are not the enemy 3. It's a

Nothing is _required_ but lack of a demo will make it much harder to convince an investor that your team gets the market and can build the right product, especially in 10 minutes. You'll have to compensate for that somehow. If it's a hardwa

Pretty cool. I'll try reading that for a couple of days to see how the experience compares to reading HN. Giles, can you add the link for the HN comments as well?

The problem is that your friend will eventually ask the same question to an honest person, or otherwise discover that $25-30 is really the widespread going rate for the coat. And then feel even worse (especially if she actually overpaid for

jdileo, your profile actually looks interesting, and I'm sure some of us hackers would want to talk to you. Please add your email address to your profile; note that the email field itself is not visible to others.

This could really change how we design webpages. Shorter to-the-point content would be better. (Ideally that should always be true, but too much whitespace looks ugly too.)

Guys, the main point Erick is making is that live video is significant, not that Justin.tv is kicking Hulu's ass. Despite the title, that's an interesting observation. I for one didn't think live video would be as big. So most of its audie

Congrats! I'm intrigued that YC is doing more non-web/non-SW startups: Wattvision and Propable in this batch. Does YC add just as much value in such different areas?

Every time there's a Scribd-related post on HN, the comments are negative and repetitive. I don't use the service either, but: 1. It's successful, at least in terms of traffic, so it's worth watching and perhaps learning from. 2. The web ha

Let's digg it up, in case some entrepreneurs haven't heard of YC yet. Most of the people I meet in the valley still haven't.

Congrats! I'm pleasantly surprised to see you've included Slicehost at launch as well. A couple of Qs: 1. Why is it free? I'm more than happy to pay for something like this (altho I'm wary of relying on a new startup for such mission-critic

As long as you believe giving up 2-10% of your company to YC will improve your outcome by at least as much, you should apply.

Like staunch mentions, there are cheaper places to live in than either SiV or Boston. Living in Austin-TX would cost half as much for instance. Living in developing countries would cost even less (at least if one doesn't insist on 100% equi

Agree about the other benefits in addition to access to VCs, but it's still arguable if they're worth the higher cost of living. If you're a bootstrapped startup, you'll hit ramen profitability much sooner elsewhere. When you have an infini
