I would think an Android skin would still be preferable. Much bigger ecosystem of touch optimized apps.

You need an ISP right? You think telecom companies are anxious to provide them bandwidth?

In my experience the types of developers building this stuff are personally fans of open source and companies are willing to let them submit upstream due to PR wins and limited downside.

Alexander Hamilton wrote a lot of articles published in newspapers across the country in 1793 about how to "cure" yellow fever with booze and hot baths: https://thehill.com/opinion/healthcare/486788-how-p

Maybe a driver would still be in the truck for non-highway situations, but could be sleeping in the cab so the vehicle utilization time is higher and goods delivered quicker on long hauls.

Agree -- recruiters don't care about side projects. But, if you hustle and track down the hiring manager they might be impressed, and at a minimum it could be a good conversation starter. My side projects have opened a lot of doors for

Windows, Linux, and Mac do. I'm proposing this scoped just to device+OS combo that you purchased.

Maybe it should be something like, "if your platform doesn't allow side loading of other apps, or other app stores, then the store on that platform can take no more than X% commission on sales"

The coverage of this has been misguided IMO. The headline here should be, "Walmart Plus takes on Amazon Fresh". The benefits you get are really just delivery of in-store items to your house, it seems your walmart.com experience do

If you watch the video of it, it looks like this is just a rolling self checkout machine. So you basically self checkout with each item as you put it in the cart.

User acquisition is very hard. If you can outsource that to a marketplace the commission is probably worth it, especially if your goal is to be a very lean micro-SaaS.

We need to be making more science based risk decisions here. The commentary I see on this topic, like this article, are justifications of whatever viewpoint the person is anchored in (due to emotions, political leadership, or personal home

This was also my experience. It's easy to reflect on the day, or the week and feel like there was no joy, no break, no time where you got to do something you wanted or just relax. Our days were very long, as we did a staggered schedule

I don't understand why HN finds piracy acceptable for news content. If the post was about a video game or movie release, should we pin a link to the .torrent file?

I'm considering purchasing one. In general, I value convenience and personalization over privacy. I completely don't relate to the idea of relevant ads being a bad thing. Anyways, as someone who spends a lot of time panning a lapt

Could the same be said about computer science or most engineering degrees? You walk out of your CS program ready to be a frontend web developer or a device driver developer? I think all degrees are pretty general and then you specialize in

Is it a cost structure issue? Ie, replacing the captain on a ship that holds 15,000 shipping containers, does that lower the cost of each container by a couple of dollars? Similarly, with airline pilots, how much of my ticket cost is pilot
