The problem wasn't misstated, when they aren't in order the solution isn't obvious unless you remember a bit about sums. Most interview problems, if restricted, can either be solved very quickly, or aren't interesting anymore. Either way,

Pasting in most of Shakespeare's works seems to have made editing non-responsive for about 30s. Pretty neat though.

Slightly off-topic, but your website breaks after visiting the RDMS page, as all the other links seem to be relative, so they attempt to go to pages such as /products/people.html

Thinking that all interviews which use some form of whiteboard BS are bad is just as much a cargo cult idea as the use of whiteboards.

It started as just a joke, but I've personally seen more than one CS undergrad living out the brogrammer stereotype because they thought it was cool and was part of "startup culture". No joking involved. That's what scares me most about

I would recommend it. I'm not fully happy yet with my setup, but it's all in bash, and fairly simple really. Plus, when you do it yourself you will understand everything you do, and be less likely to screw up something you didn't actually

Well, if it helps any, I've found the CUDA API to be somewhat lacking in features, but more or less robust, and pretty logical to deal with as a developer. Keep up the good work.

Exactly this. I don't particularly mind sharing some of my personal data with 3rd parties, especially because I actually like ads if they are for new products that I am actually interested in purchasing. However, not being able to reliabl

Being the enlightened hacker that I am, I use SSH keys for all of my ssh'ing, and I know a fair number of sysadmins that require ssh keys, so I kind of thought it was more or less default nowadays. I guess I was wrong, so what is the reaso

I almost spit out my coffee, very well done. I have the same issue in that I set up my preferences, and told my wife (who uses it alot more but doesn't look at the recommendations much, she generally already knows what she wants to watch)

Never used Ableton, but I've been dabbling in Reaper[0]. I can't make a full switch yet, but am hoping to be able to at some point in time. From the little I've seen it isn't missing anything major. Final Cut Pro is another story, but I r

Windows handles media much better than linux. I have a linux media server as well, and while I like it for somethings, getting Blu-Ray/DVD/MP3/CD/Netflix/etc. working in it is not one of those things. Windows just works in that sense. Al

I run windows, but always run a Linux VM in which I do all of my dev work, and have an OS X laptop which would be a linux laptop, but Logic/Final Cut Pro keep it that way. Right tool for the right job, IMO.

...Law is basically a big virtual machine that runs on metaphors and rhetoric, kind of like the IE6 html engine. Best quote I've read all year. Also makes a ton of sense when put like that, so thanks.

I have a real desire for a ~ 8.5x11 (or A4, it doesn't really matter I guess) size whiteboard built into my desk right in front of my keyboard. That could probably replace paper for 95% of my ideas. If they could come out with a finer tip

It might only be me, but I'm pretty sure I have the best of both worlds. I live with my wife (no kids), and we're both quirky as hell. When we go out, we act normal, but at home we do whatever we want. I'm very introverted, but comfortab
