This seems to be taken from this answer on a question about HTML/CSS specificity http://stackoverflow.com/a/11934505/950912

Would love to read a bit more about your experiences, that sounds like a ton of fun! Consider this a request for a blog post.

Slightly OT, but I'm going to reiterate a comment from the older submission, this is one of the best written comparisons of two similar technologies I've ever read. Generally you either get one-sided pieces or supposed "fair fight" pieces

I wouldn't say schedules are useless, they are actually pretty helpful to humans (e.g. the bus is scheduled for 5:13, but in rush hour that means it will probably be there closer to 5:20). Tracking is clearly more helpful if available, how

At first I thought this was a joke due to some of the copy, but after reading through the tutorial a bit, it seems pretty interesting. Less hyperbole would be nice though. From the FAQ, ANI (the language, anic is the reference compiler) i

I only looked at the first couple episodes, but be warned that this is javascript for the absolute beginning developer . They are really slow-paced if you have ever done any coding before. Not to knock the videos, if you are in the target

Blizzard operates in a free market. Average consumers don't care that much about security until something happens, then they forget. Therefore, security isn't a priority to Blizzard. It is really as simple as that.

Sounds like what I would have done if I was trying to overthrow CL ( http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4324452 ). Great idea, I look forward to using Bidkat in the future.

I was just talking with a colleague the other day about how to simplify the number of hash functions needed for a bloom filter. He recommended something similar to what the paper describes, but we both dismissed it as "probably won't work"

Unless of course you only need to write one line. Not every use of git requires complex formatting in commit messages. Almost all of my git repos are used by me alone, and one line is enough. Obviously this isn't the main purpose of git,

I know people have had issues, but mine works perfectly. I own a MBA and I like the Series 9 touchpad better in many aspects. I agree on the ports though, poor design choices.

That's what I suspected. For those of us who work with computers for most of our waking hours, our bodies get use to focusing on what we are clicking on. Thanks for your feedback.

My officemate does this as well. What is the reasoning? Does it help you focus on the content? Do you always click on the next word to be read? I'm curious as to what could cause this behavior to emerge.

If they actually get in trouble, sure that would be an issue. But I'm pretty sure if I ran a company and it was brought to my attention that there was some traffic to *.xxx domains, I'd at least want to know why.

I don't understand the drama either, but everyone knows it isn't that easy. As has been said many times, their network effect is what matters here, not features. I use craigslist and I hate it (seriously, something about the site irks me)

Is the fix just to submit the original? I've never used digg but isn't it just adding comments to the original story? In many ways, I think this policy should apply to reddit links as well, but at least reddit has original content like Am

Plus computers actually remember things. I think anyone here can see that a computerized method of gathering data isn't interesting for the method per se but the ease of keeping and analyzing said data over a period of time.

So that is basically insane, but I do have to ask how many of those kinds of maneuvers have been tried before? I mean, they say they can't land the rover with rockets, so I assume they have used alternate methods before as well?

Building a webapp, probably still 2.7 However, I much prefer 3.x. Much cleaner, better stdlib, and unicode everything. If you do use 2.7, please please please use 3.x printing though (from __future__ import print_function)

...not quite. The hangout backend will now power all video calls, but to do more than a 1-on-1 chat, you will still need a G+ profile. Interesting as the old backend was p2p, but it sounds like hangouts are a more standard client/server.

On the "different people can believe different things", I think this is very valid, but is misapplied early on in education to mean "everyone is right/special". Really, if you can present a different opinion on something and can provide ev

One of the highest truth/word comments I've read in a long time. The real issue with education in America is that everyone a) thinks it is someone else's problem and b) thinks if they just change x we will rocket to the top.
