I'm sure most of the students at the school do know that. The app is completely anonymous, so for all we know, the nasty comments could have been made by just a handful of students.

If you are a large company, you can move faster if devs aren't all working on the same repository. If all your code is in one repo and one team makes a breaking change to their part of it, everyone's code fails to build. If the so

I had a mild stutter when I was younger. It was mainly because I have a tendency to talk too quickly and stumble over my own words. I recommend trying to consciously slow the speed at which you talk. Perhaps that will solve the stuttering.

Just FYI, it's spelled "tic" without the k. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tic I had a friend in high school who had some minor tics. Funnily enough, he also talked rather slowly and deliberately.

Most big tech companies use a service-oriented architecture. The website is composed of many small services which communicate with each other over HTTP or RPC protocols. Each service has its own version control repo and is maintained by a d

Why would they put that all in the same repository? I'm pretty sure this 8 GB repo is just their website code. A frontend dev working on a Timeline feature shouldn't have to check out the Linux kernel.

If you don't have the source that produced those binaries your only choice is to have them downloadable from somewhere else (which is a real hassle for the developer) or just check them into the repo.

When I was visiting my relatives in China I never got the sense that cooks were more highly respected. It's pretty much the same there. The cooks work in the kitchen and you generally don't see their face or know who they are unle

Yeah, I know. I don't really have a problem eating alone in a regular restaurant. I think it would feel more awkward in a restaurant where the tables are meant to have only one person.

Ever been to an old-style American diner? They also have counters where you can eat by yourself. Counter tables in restaurants are not unique to Japan. There are also night market food stands which are popular in Taiwan and overseas Chinese

Hmm, perhaps I'm atypical. I generally don't leave my email open and respond in real time. I tend to do it in batches, so I reopen gmail multiple times a day.

It depends on what business you are in. Some are more tightly regulated than others. For instance: healthcare, telecom, and finance.

I find it funny that Page complained about Gmail taking 600 milliseconds to load back when it was created. It probably takes longer than that these days unless you have a really fast connection.
