I personally know someone who claims to have automated his work with Excel after learning how to code. He ended up telling his manager after feeling guilty. He got a promotion and eventually left the team to become a real software engineer.

I wish this article also covered how google manages sql like code. In my projects I have sometimes struggled with keeping my table definitions, constraints, functions, etc in sync with the SQL in my git repo

Maybe it valued some companies at below market for $1.8M, but YC also accepts pre-revenue and sometimes pre-product companies. Surely their market value is below $1.8M.

Well actually SvelteKit has a concept of “adapters” which can bundle your app for different targets (ex: netlify, vercel, or node). If you target running your app on a node server, polka might be the default but it is trivial to replace wit

This is cool, but for me to use it I would need a LOT of confidence that the tool wouldn't just silently stop working one day. With my luck that would probably be the one day I actually needed to use this tool. You may want to look at

As a former engineer in SWE, I don’t think there was mistreatment, but I definitely felt like designers were treated (slightly)better. At the minimum they seemed to have better snacks back in Infinite Loop!

Parent commenter might mean EPMs (engineering program managers). They are basically project managers and keep software releases on time. They do tend to hold a lot of power at apple. I don’t think I have never come across an actual product

PDFs actually have some support for javascript! I don't know any serious use for it and some PDF viewers refuse to support it (ex: Apple's Preview app), but it does exist.

No matter how messed up an app is it should never be able to interfere with essential functions like calling 911. IMO Microsoft bears zero responsibility for this bug or testing for it. Android is entirely to blame here.

FWIW I don’t think Apple has a standardized interview process. Unlike companies like google or FB, each individual team decides its own interview questions. That means it’s possible to have a horrible interview experience with one team, and

Apple takes a similar approach for swift. Package.swift files run real swift code and export an object that specifies the package’s configuration. In practice I think it works fairly well.
