All your points are correct, but when the original version required 16 MB of RAM it wasn't expected to be able to dedicate all of that to itself either.

Could you give an example of one that's particularly egregious? I've seen a couple that seemed questionable (based on my gut feeling, not any specific knowledge of the subject), but none that seemed as absurd as the crystal folks.

I would expect Java User Groups to skew much older than the average HN'er or start-up employee, or probably programmers in general.

MS Word has had grammar checking for a decade or more. I haven't used it in about five years, but I remember it being inconsistent and irritating.

You didn't provide any reasons for your position. I don't want to put words in your mouth, but the reasons I can think of are: 1. You don't support domesticated animals and/or the farming of animals 2. You dislike the idea of living things

As long as you can limit which subreddits your ads are shown on, which I'm 99% sure is already possible, this wouldn't be a real issue for the vast majority of advertisers.

As far as I know, payment providers generally don't have access to the itemized bill for the services or goods purchased, only the total charge, date/time, and the name of the merchant.

I think in this case, the story is more about Apple's disregard for the spirit of the court order than being down on Apple in general. I'm generally an Apple fan, but this seems kind of petty and oddly antagonistic towards the court.

Apple hypes their platform specific tools, but there's no reason that at least traditional textbook content can't be provided in an easily cross platform way. Even the more complex content will likely become standardized to some extent in t

Lately I've seen a couple people refer to Backbone as "heavy," which I just don't understand, as it seems about as lightweight as possible for the functionality it provides. Could you explain what you mean?
