From the post it looks like that's what he does now. Fastly uploads files to S3 (you can specify how often), and then a Lambda function is run per file to aggregate the files into view-counts. How is this different from yours?

I would argue that the fact that they're in the same repo does not make it a monolith at all. All of google and facebook is in a single repo and built at the same time, but it doesn't make them monoliths.

My guess is that it's a md5 of the IP (with a salt) to hide what the actual IPs on their internal network is. But since they know the salt and the ip ranges they can find out what the IP is.
