One good thing about ZFS integrity checking is that when it finds an error it can repair the bit rot from another disk if you have parity or mirroring. Can dm-integrity do that?

Actually they ask for social media accounts when applying for a visa waiver now, e.g. ESTA. I bet they'll mark you as suspicious if you travel without any electronics too, because that has become uncommon.

They could do one tracking request and fan out to different tracking systems on the backend. Doesn't solve the privacy issue, but solves the loading issue.

But it is affected by leap seconds. According to the example labeled "Unix time across midnight when a UTC leap second was inserted on 1 January 1999" the unix time went backwards. So using epoch/unix time does not help.

Oh, if only CrashPlan existed back then. I've also lost numerous files due to stupid mistakes and failing hard drives. Can't find any photos from before 2006. Now I use CrashPlan, Dropbox w/packrat, Arq and local backups to Z

Exactly. Facebook probably sends 302 Temporary Redirect, counts it as a click, and the bot simply does not follow the Location header. Are there any ways to avoid this?

Could you tell us what RAID controllers actually does this? Because I've never seen one do checksumming at all. Anyone that is actually available for "normal" people (which is relevant for the discussion of the article), i.e.
