The most basic app, a notepad, I often prefer native. When I go between google keep or notion to apple notes I can tell the difference. If the text is long enough, the web apps just can not load the content. Just to confirm: I dumped all of

I fail to see the quality crisis if you’re just sticking with iPhone and Mac. I’ve yet to find a better phone+computer setup if what you’re looking for are good quality native apps, integration between pc and handset, and a usable Unix envi

Just waiting for this atc thing to become overly politicized like every other aspect of life in America. I swear over politicization and polarization is going to strangle this country and destroy it if it hasn’t already.

I hope it succeeds so that more of peoples interactions online don’t go through companies whose business model is driven by ads and impact. Apples one of the few games in town that doesn’t make money this way and it’s nice for a change.

All I’ve wanted is a pocket iOS device that I can dock and use for some desktop-like use cases. I had really hoped that the iPad mini would get stage manager for this reason. Oh well

How do you build such a thing when it doesn’t exist on PCs in the first place? In order to build an ecosystem you need cross compatible applications as well as some kind of strongly supported and strongly emphasized programming interface.

It’s a level of hyperbole that could only be taken seriously by an autistic person or someone in tech. That’s why.

So your argument is that making computers and the internet easier to use for normal people is cause for societal destruction? I can’t be convinced, but that does seem like more of an indictment on people than it does tech.

This is the only comment on here about fb that makes sense. Meta is fully capable and willing to make products that protect user privacy, and they have in the form of WhatsApp and others. But what they definitely aren’t capable of is buildi

Did you just compare a Silicon Valley tech company selling ads to IG Farben? It’s very hard to take this post seriously even though your point stands.

Agreed. I often get my work done using open source build instructions and tools and then when everything works I port it to internal infra. Other people are the opposite though, which for open source based code bases has a nasty side effect

My previous job actually had nice offices, and a pretty cohesive team culture. I still think work from home 2-3 days a week would have been better just to avoid the commute.

I find so much of modern technology to be a huge step backwards. Example: People used to call friends over a land line and tell them to tune into the movie on whatever channel and they’d watch at the same time together from two different pl
