Are you implying that people on Hacker News saying LK-99 is a superconductor helped the scientific community in some way?

Watching this unfold on HN has been eerily similar to watching r/UFOs whenever someone comes forward with "proof" of UFOs/coverups/whatever. I never want to rain on anyone's parade, as proof of ETs or room tem

If someone wasn't a lawyer and did something similar, they would face little to no negative effects socially. Why should a lawyer get a free pass, especially considering they should know better?

If people are using gig economy jobs to make ends meet, doesn't it still seem possible that they could suffer from the volatile pay? Why can't someone have their "freedom" and also have some negative effects?

This isn't a video game. Your sample size of one is not indicative of the greater population. Don't cause people to mess up their health by appealing to the notion that they can do better than trained medical professionals. This i

You bring up a fair point that the study is not perfect. I would be interested to find a better study, but to be honest I'm not sure where I would be able to find one... I'll see if I can find a more objective one after work.

I'm frankly quite surprised by the initial wave of comments disparaging this message. The facts are that women are poorly represented in the tech community[1], and do make less than men[2]. Any attempt to let women feel more accepted

I used to have chronic neck pain, and didn't think that it would ever get better. I was eventually convinced to go to physical therapy at a location near my job. It took several months of me going in for half an hour, twice a week, bu

There are also a lot of people out there who would not be willing to pay the $4.64 dollars. By using this model, developers can get both the people who want to buy it through the store and people who don't want to spend any money to p

You have valid points, especially about contributing back to the community. However, I was using Rust to learn how a webserver or a kernel worked, not to learn how a language worked. If I was writing my own code for my own use, and it didn

I am a CS student who had to use Rust for my OS class. I have had several issues using Rust so far, mostly caused by a lack of verbose documentation and examples. The basic ideas are great, but it's hard to learn about some things, su
