Well, if we see an object with our eye, we know that it is on a particular line. When the brain sees the object with two eyes, it knows that the object is where the two lines cross. As long as they cross in front of the eyes. If they cross

How much have you played? It seems you need to get used to it -- for me it caused motion sickness initially, but after getting used to it (which did not require much playing in my case), not anymore (except with experimenting with new graph

There is a free software version of HyperRogue, and also a paid version e.g. from Steam. The Steam version has some minor features that the free version does not have (leaderboards, Strange Challenge, etc.).

It appears that tunneler is a pixel-based game (not sure whether there is a commonly used term for that, but I mean games like Lemmings or Scorched Earth or Liero or Noita which are grid-based at pixel precision). It is not clear how to mak

We have also experimented with using the HyperRogue engine for similar visualizations of hierarchical data, see: http://www.roguetemple.com/z/hyper/rogueviz.php

Unfortunately spherical geometry is often done incorrectly (in Civilization the Earth was a cylinder, in other games planets are tori). What kind of shooter? An Asteroids-like game on hyperbolic manifolds (both 2D and 3D) can be found in Hy

Usually "non-Euclidean" is used for Riemannian manifolds, so if something is not a Riemannian manifold, it is not called Euclidean or non-Euclidean. Just like "irrational number", which is not any number that is not rati

Geometry is the curvature of the fabric the space is made of. Topology is how you sew/glue this fabric. You can make a cylinder out of flat paper, so it is an Euclidean manifold. You cannot make a sphere out of flat paper, so it is a n

Indeed, it seems that Antichamber called itself "non-Euclidean" and people did not know what it means and called all games which did something weird to their spaces got called non-Euclidean. We have lots of cool truly non-Euclidea

Knossu is cool but not non-Euclidean... It changes topology but its geometry remains Euclidean. Weird connections and non-Euclidean geometry are two very different things.

It is a great resource for Euclidean hexagons, but non-Euclidean tilings are a different thing. (He does a bit of spherical geometry in his other articles.)

It does. The first version on Steam was $0.99 (it was a tiny game too). Then I think it was $2.99 for some time, then $4.99. The price on itch.io stays at $2.99 because their system does not allow us to increase the price without taking the

Hyperbolic geometry is used in the modelling of social networks and other scale-free networks, see the Hyperbolic Random Graph model.

We did some research a few years ago which was similar in some aspects. We have mapped roguelikes and boardgames into the hyperbolic plane based on the frequency of two games being mentioned together on Reddit. Here are our maps: Roguelikes

Other Euclid's axioms should still hold in non-Euclidean geometry, but with portals and walls, they do not. Mathematicians who are experts in non-Euclidean geometry would agree that portals do not yield non-Euclidean geometry, e.g. Hen

For easy computations assume octagonal cells. Their vertices will have 135 degrees each. The edges of the portal will be visible because the left and right images do not match (since 3*135 ≠ 360). And a object (as long as it is modelled as

The phrase "non-euclidean geometry" does not mean "any geometry that violates the Euclid axioms" but specifically that the parallel postulate is replaced. traki is right.
