In my case, I happen to be doing something completely different with AOSP. I'm not looking to build a webapp for the Play store. We are embedding AOSP on our own hardware. Also, I don't care what Facebook says.

This isn't 100% true. The majority of that is the native shared library and binary resources. These could be hosted centrally and loaded from an APK. It isn't totally necessary to package them in an APK.

I forked ChromeView, and then the more time I spent with the Chromium build and codebase, I realized the content shell was a better starting point, so I created a similar project that uses different chromium artifacts as a base: https:&#x2

Just out of curiosity, I ran format in play.golang.org, and it creates tabs with 8 spaces -- really? Is that what the command "go format" will do, too? Is standard go formatting tabs with 8 spaces?

ChromeView is unfinished business; the author has stated that he doesn't have time to commit to it right now. Certain things are broken in it like native scrolling. I started using it, and the more I got into the Chromium source, I r

I've been working on something similar myself, since Google has indicated Chromium WebView isn't a priority for them right now https://github.com/davisford/android-chromium-view

I've done a considerable amount of scraping; if you're poking around at nicely designed web pages, node/cheerio will be nice, but if you need to scrape data out of a DOM mess with quirks and iframes w/in iframes and form

Seems like this narrative hasn't been explored and could have legs. I'm not holding my breath, but I'd like to see a solid media piece that hammered this idea home for the American-folk.

The small team I am on just re-wrote a number of different apps written by 3rd parties that were 20/30k and got them down to ~3k -- mainly by throwing out all their library junk and just doing things right in AngularJS.
