Be careful with calcium. I was taking a 1000mg / day capsule that included zinc & magnesium, and I recently ended up with a kidney stone. Not fun. My Doctor asked my why I was taking calcium being a young, healthy, individual...and h

Thanks for that. The missing link here is having the tutorial and the editor together for the maximum user benefit. What would be really cool is if the online copy of RWH had this editor embedded in it. What would be even cooler is if it

Nicely done. Would be nice to support copy/paste into the editor. Get rid of the dark grey background on code snippets in the tutorial -- very difficult to read. Having REPL inline with the tutorial is great...wish someone would build som

Thanks. I hadn't heard of you before, and knew little of the origins of Facebook, etc. I just read your book. It was a fascinating read.

Speaking from a little bit of experience in this area...these networks are often not isolated. It depends on the vehicle and network architecture, but there are valid business reasons for getting at the entire network through Wi-Fi. Buffer

I'm running adobe's FP 10.0.45.2. When you hit a site that requires flash the first time, firefox prompts you to install the plugin, and it gives you three options: the adobe player, and two other oss versions. I chose the adobe player. B

I do something similar, although not as lavish. I'm an independent consultant, and I typically work 4-5 weeks at home, and then co-locate for one week at the client to do planning and design for the next iteration. I've found this to be a

+1 for maven for me. I've used it quite a bit. I've set up (fixed) a lot of really, really bad Ant builds. I have nothing against Ant, but it is easily abused, and can quickly degenerate into a complex mess. Maven has a learning curve --

Yes it does. A good local repo will cache it. They act as mirrors. Once its cached, and your build is working fine, you can force all your developers to use only your local repo. This solves all non-determinism problems by allowing yo

What you're missing here is sort of described in the RTFM. There are a couple very good, free books on maven that describe this, but in essence: 1) You absolutely should have your own local repository (e.g. Archiva). 2) You should use &#

Sounds much more like a rant to me. The complaint about the war file size is a prime example. There are several quick / easy ways to analyze this and fix it / force it to generate exactly what you want. None of that is particularly advan

The performance argument falls down when you consider the embedded domain where there is a long way to catch up before all embedded devices are multi-core with lots of RAM and huge caches.

If you use Java, EasyMock makes this a non-issue. I have found that with a test framework like EasyMock, you no longer have to jump through so many of these goofy tdd hoops. You can mock methods, return values, thrown exceptions, parameter

Some fine points. I agree about the quality of the people and the passion, but I disagree that distributed teams only work for routine work. I worked on a large, complex project wherein we re-built a company's internals from scratch. The

I have to second this. If you are building anything more complex than a very simple project, and you are not using one of the three (Eclipse, Netbeans, Intellij) -- you are wasting a lot of your time. They are not hard to learn. The stuff
