This particular website doesn’t work on a computer. I’ve seen others that work well enough. This website is just broken. I believe this version is intended to only be legible if you’re colorblind, but good luck actually using it.

Amazon has little incentive to proactively address this issue unless their reactive measures (issuing refunds and taking down listings after people complain) are the more costly alternative. There's an argument to be made that if we wa

Ignore this test. It doesn’t work on a computer. You need to take in in-person using specially-printed images.

I’ve been in a lot of ophthalmologist’s offices for a variety of issues, and even had surgery as a child to correct one of them. The one issue I do not have is color blindness—and I’ve been given a lot of these tests. This website doesn’t w

That’s not secure at all. Eventually, some website you use is going to get hacked. They’ll have stored passwords as plaintext. From there, anyone who wants to hack any of your accounts knows your password format. It’s going to be obvious to

It depends. You probably have a typical coffee brewer. Those aren’t too picky about their grind, but they take up a lot of space and only do one thing. Most don’t last long. You could instead get a V60 for about $10 and a nice hand grinder,

On the other hand, you end up leaking cookies between the two subdomains when you take this approach. If one site gets hacked, so does the other. It’s better to use two separate domains and begin establishing trust for the new domain.

Interestingly, this time around, Ubuntu actually removed TrustCor from its root store almost immediately. That technically means that some certificates that should still be valid are now invalid on Ubuntu.

HN title is incorrect. Apple is demanding 30% of gas fees, not exchange fees. Personal opinion: That’s even more ridiculous. Coinbase has no access to or control over gas fees.

You can actually stop the MFA onboarding process when it asks for your phone number—just close the tab or window. You’ll still get TOTP or whatever else you already configured. It makes it sound as though you also need to add a phone number

I don’t think that’s true. I believe they want you to explicitly define how you want you compare strings. Comparing Unicode strings isn’t as straightforward as comparing individual bytes or code points. For example, there are multiple Unico

At no point does the author make any assertion that the rate was constant. Presumably, the current rate of recession is just one variable that gets plugged into an equation.

I’ve been on the iOS 16 beta for a while now. The Weather app is still hot garbage compared to Dark Sky: 1. It’s never up to date, and there’s no way to tell when it last updated. This has always been an issue, and it’s still not fixed in i

You have to validate that the response is well-formed even if you parse it. There's no harm in trying to parse it if the Content-Type indicates it's JSON (or XML, or whatever else you're expecting). You can then use that re

That should be indicated by the Content-Type header, not the status code. If you get a 2XX response but the Content-Type isn't what you expect, you probably shouldn't try to parse it. I've seen misbehaving APIs return 2XX w
