For those of you wondering, it appears that the company mentioned in the article, GreenLionSoft [1], develops apps that show public transportation schedules in Spain, at least as of 2017 [2]. Their Google Play page still exists in some pla

Is it known whether this was a deliberate political statement in response to recent events in China, or just a festive holiday joke intended to be harmless? Given the current state of affairs in China, I’m inclined to believe this was polit

Almost. I started the process—downloaded all my data, etc. Unfortunately, I couldn’t go through with it for reasons I’m embarrassed to admit: 1. One entire side of my extended family relies on it for all familial communications. I was force

They already found a way around that one: https://www.businessinsider.com/people-receiving-amazon-pack... tl;dr: They pick an address, order their own products, ship junk in its place (cheap goods or even just bricks), and

I’ve seen the email sent to aaomidi, and it didn’t say that. It’s possible that they revised the notice after receiving complaints, but the initial batch was worded rather harshly without any indication that it was possible to appeal.

And if they don't comply, what then? None of the penalties can actually be enforced if they have no presence in Europe, unless the US decides to cooperate, which seems unlikely.

The EU claims that's not how it works. Everyone else claims that is how it works. It's highly unlikely that the EU will actually be able to enforce it globally.

This article is brilliantly written. I could write an article about how much I enjoyed reading this article, but then I’d be distracting you from what I actually want you to read. Go read it.

We use ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) quite heavily for this at my company. It works, and it works well. We feed massive amounts of data into it--it's not unusual for our indices to grow by 50 GiB in a single day, which is qui

I appreciate the interest, but this is definitely premature. I still haven't been able to reproduce it in controlled tests. As I said in the thread to which you linked, I'll follow up once I've fully investigated.

Yup, it'll be on there once I finish debugging. Edit: I'm having trouble reproducing it in a controlled environment, so a proper post mortem is probably going to have to wait for another day.

Meta: NamePros tech admin here. This hammered our servers so hard that we actually uncovered a fairly obscure bug in Nginx's FastCGI caching. It's gone unnoticed for years, including during rigorous load testing.

GDPR is almost exclusively for personal content (as in: name, email address), whereas most of the content on Quora isn't personal. GDPR makes no effort to allow you erase that. You can certainly take efforts to restrict its movement,

You don't actually have the right to be forgotten, even within GDPR. That provision was heavily modified before GDPR passed, and the final phrasing doesn't really grant you the ability to erase all of your content from the intern

For anyone else reading this, the link cited above contains a wealth of technical and practical information about peppers and related flavors, and it even delves into the psychological aspects of spiciness. It’s a great read.
