Make possession carry the death penalty. Before you think that's too harsh, consider that the other options are to ban encryption or to not try to stop it at all (quasi-decriminalization). I don't think anyone would oppose a bill

This is the consequence of companies like Discord letting child predators run rampant on their platform and doing nothing about it. There are two sides to every story. You can imagine how the government would react after seeing hundreds and

If you slap an "academic" label on it, no one will bother you. Same like how PredictIt is run by a university so they're allowed to be a casino that takes MasterCard and Visa.

Bitcoin's strong point is that it will allow rich people to maintain their wealth when the inevtiable tyrants take over and try to redistribute wealth.

This is reckless and compromises the security of the Bitcoin network. A single transaction worth a billion dollars starts to create incentive for miners to 51% attack and reorg the chain.

Bazel has rules_rust and supports distributed builds. It might be useful to switch to that instead of cargo.

Suppose 100 processes on the same box call the same function in glibc. If each process had its own redundant version of it mapped into memory, then that's 100x more cache misses compared to them all sharing the same page. I get that on

Dynamic linking provides encapsulation and security benefits. An application with a statically linked OpenSSL can be vulnerable if a CVE comes out for that version of OpenSSL, whereas a dynamically linked OpenSSL could be patched immediatel

Search history, ad clicks, etc. can serialize to very tiny records. I don't think this is about saving storage space. One day of YouTube uploads probably takes more space than every user's data combined.

It amazes me how much abuse loyal Apple customers are willing to take. How much money are you willing to spend. It's almost like this is some large-scale ritual hazing which serves to make you, the hazee, come out even more loyal on th

That works if the obfuscating patterns are all straightforward like a regular grammar. But if it's not possible to distinguish an obfuscation from genuine code, that could quickly become intractable (NP).
