About $30/month from a very small free iPhone app with iAd. Thinking about making it a paid app and seeing how it does. If you're curious: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/nations/id386514813?mt=8

I don't think so. Wufoo and SurveyMonkey are both profitable and they both charge for a product that solves a real problem.

One of my favorite things about Rubular is the "Make Permalink" feature. Paste the link as a comment above your regex and you can easily get back to the same place later. The permalink includes your test string(s) and makes it really easy t

Yes, using Backbone is convenient and great. But instead of using it and not worrying about the details why not read the annotated source and learn something? http://documentcloud.github.com/backbone/docs/backbone.html

Actually, Apple also provides a "Genius" section on the iPhone App Store app. It's been around for a while, but I don't think they've put it in iTunes or pushed it very hard. But yes, in general I agree with your assessment of the problem.

I feel the same way, but there is a much more lucrative reason to use bitcoins: The lack of transaction fees. I don't know about you, but it really bothers me that you have to give up ≈3% of your revenue to the credit card companies if you

I can see it being used with wkhtmltopdf (uses webkit to generate PDFs) so invoice generation or something doesn't require an external request.

This is great, thank you! Took me a while to figure out how to get signed in with instapaper... Turns out it's in the Settings app. I wish Apple provided an API to link from an app to its settings page, and back to the app from the settings

Yes, Sass provides a setting that prints the source line numbers with the compiled CSS for development. I think this is on by default, but you can turn it on in the config file with: Sass::Plugin.options[:line_comments] = true # or wi

Ideally, I use Sass with Compass ( http://compass-style.org/ ). This alone is a great start to keeping things organized. One of the things I love about Sass is that it allows partials and variable declarations, which both help immensely wit

As others have mentioned, this isn't really true full-text search support, but instead an old page with an example of how you can get that kind of functionality. Full-text search should be coming, but it's still a ways off... The most recen

Seems really expensive (5.9% plus $.95 or 8.9% flat per transaction). I've been getting setup with Stripe. They just lowered their rates to 3.5% (from 5%) plus $0.30 per transaction. Good API and no other fees. Seems great so far... https:

Indeed. I have done some research on flywheels and I believe that they can be much more efficient than batteries. Another huge benefit to flywheels is that they are consistent and do not suffer loss of capacity over their extremely long l

All thanks to jashkenas: CoffeeScript, Underscore.js, and Backbone.js. Using those tools has helped me to really enjoy writing JavaScript and to start doing it in a much more organized manner. They have been a huge catalyst for my growth as

Yeah, I'm not too serious about HN being involved. I just always think it's funny when there's a story on a popular website about some website being over capacity because everyone starts visiting and checking if it's up yet.

This is pretty exciting. Great news! I would love to use this for a number of things I'm involved with, but I am surprised by the package that is offered. I'm not saying that what they offer (1 year of 350 GB for $800) is not worth the pric

That's a good point, but not entirely true. I'm half Lebanese. Despite being "randomly selected" often, my Beirut-born brother has taken a box cutter on every flight he's been on since 9/11 just because he can. TSA is quite uneffective.

I don't think so. Backbone is more about the Models, Collections, and persistence. Backbone doesn't do much with views or even touch templating, it just gives you a basic way to hook up the views to the data. From what it looks like Knockou
