I fail to see how this could possibly be a good business decision for them. Seems pretty plain to me that they need to be going for the low end of the market — new startups with 0-100 customers — rather than the high end.

I don't think any of us have enough info to merit freaking out about this... From their blog: Down at Apple's Request Apple has notified us of an issue. We’re in the process of resolving this and fully expect to amicably resolve it. Unfor

I've been using AirDisplay on my iPad as a third monitor and it's been pretty good so far. I have a similar setup to yours. Works very well for certain tasks like tailing logs and such. http://avatron.com/apps/air-display/

That's why you need to think about providing a valuable service, not "extracting money." A potentially good business model in the future could be to provide services such as taking piles of media from the family and compiling it into slides

I think it's quite an astute point. Easy access to porn desensitizes us sexually, and we no longer have to depend on our imaginations. It's not necessarily about FUD or a generational issue, it's something worth thinking about. I think thes

I couldn't read this without thinking about MacRuby. It's hard for me to believe that he hasn't heard of MacRuby, but if he had, how could he not mention it in the article. MacRuby could be a great answer to a lot of the issues he brings up

They aren't very draconian about overages — they won't shut you down if you go over. $0.10/GB if purchased in advance, $0.15 retrospectively. Also, if you have multiple linodes your bandwidth is pooled. http://www.linode.com/faq.cfm#what-i

What is preferable about Slicehost compared to Linode? They seem extremely similar to me (I've researched it a fair amount), except that Linode's prices are way better. I've been with Linode for over a year and never regretted it. This RA

I think there's truth to this, but I also disagree strongly with the idea that if you're not good at something you haven't practiced enough. Especially in certain fields — music, design, and programming all fit I think — there is a huge amo

One thing though, is that browsers cache the data with HTML. Cappuccino uses UTF strings for data, but I wouldn't say "has to resort," it's actually a great experience for both the developer and the user.

What's the big deal? Calling yourself a CEO in a company of that size is pretty pretentious. Maybe being pretentious part of his well planned out strategy? This might be interesting if it was a CEO of a company that was worthy of having a

If it cost $500 to register a domain name, I never would have started doing web development. Now it's what I mainly do for a living. I don't think that's the right solution.

I grew up in Boulder. The reputation that Boulder has is interesting, but it's not always like that when you're there. If you want to hang out with new-age people, you can definitely do it in Boulder. If you want to be a pretentious person

One thing that's cool about HAML and SASS is that since they are all about syntax parsing, it's not a huge problem to deprecate and change the syntax and provide an upgrade utility.

I do when I want to see a larger autosuggest box than the one in the Safari search box. You can adjust the width, but at the expense of the URL box.

The fact that it's so cheap to get a site up online is one of the best things about the internet. I would hate to see the price of domain names go up in an attempt to fix this type of problem. I think it would do much more harm than good.

"The TSA does not, and cannot effectively, defend against terrorist attacks." Very true. I know someone who has carried a box cutter on every flight he's been on since 9/11 - over 100 flights, just because he can.
