That was a great read overnight. Thank you. Also one of the prettiest functional websites I've had the pleasure of reading on my phone.

The BMJ Christmas edition is a bit of humour. It's making fun of how everything needs to be a randomized controlled trial and observational evidence is considered inferior ignoring all common sense. I would have linked the older versio

Shame and fucked up, although everyone is doing it. The Canadian government is currently having a big kerfuffle about foreign influence (1) and seems like the USA conveniently blames all domestic political strife on such interference. The o

I self host wallabag and use the wallabagger extension on my machines. Works well and doesn't cost me anything on top of what I already have.

I have moved a lot of stuff from vps to my home server but I use mine as a glorified reverse proxy for home services with appropriate firewall rules, hosting my website, Adguard dns over https, and Borg backup source. $130cdn/yr.

I never understood why these companies aren't politely taken out back by the local business association. The biggest rental scam I've ever seen was in Costa Rica with their mandatory insurance that doubles the cost. I expected it

Nice write up. I've had a similar journey. I've been using Android auto on grapheneos without issues FYI. I did switch from nextcloud to Baikal as was using seafile for the file storage anyway. I gave up on protonmail and am using

This reminds me of a great scene in the wire: "Is you taking notes on a criminal f---ing conspiracy?" It's a lot harder to discover something incriminating, intentional or not, if you don't have a record.

The are a lot of sources of error in the system other than long duty hours for residents and alternatives e.g. shorter duty hours introduce error at other points and individuals in healthcare. Should something be done? Sure, reducing error

I own the domain, I control DNS, I pay a provider for email, and my phone and laptop have full downloads via IMAP. The last step aside I don't think that is an uncommon setup. Uptime might be worse, I don't know that there is a re

Nobody is a strong statement unless you mean just within tech. During residency I would pretty regularly work 10 hour days with 3 24+ call shifts that week on the ward. Like Monday 7am till Tuesday noon, sleep, regular Wed Thu, Friday Sunda

Good question. I was having those types of issues and I recall issues with booting the usb stick via EFI too. I did install the latest Pop!_OS and it works last night so clearly better this time around!

I have to issue a kudos-where-it-is-due update: I installed the latest Pop!_OS 22.04 last night, and didn't have to play with drivers or installer freezing. I did find the monitor plugged in to HDMI was being discovered sometimes so sw
