Great thank you. I've mulled around running separate reverse proxies for public and internal services instead.

Can I ask an adjacent question? I have a bunh of DNS A name entries for locallyaccessedservice.mydomain.tld point to my 10.0.0.x NAS's nginx reverse proxy so I can use HTTPS and DNS to access them locally and via Tailscale. My cert is

AI is an assistive tool at best but it can probably speed up by reflowing text. I use dragon dictation with one of the Philips microphones and it makes enough mistakes that I would probably spend the same time editing/proofing. Had a g

I happily used Migadu but switched to iCloud. The bus factor for my family is 1 with technical knowledge whereas with domains paid up for 10 years and iCloud family it is higher.

As a Canadian end user with a nexus card, it just works, and it works with less errors and issues than my revenue canada login which has poor UI and steers me towards sign in partners with by making that the natural login with dark patterns

For sure. I hope it shows nothing and it is a one off but would not want to miss something that needs treatment or predisposes you to recurrence. Take care!

A lot of drugs and efforts to treat sepsis/SIRS with inflammation have fizzled in trial. Tocilizumab, JAK inhibitors, and particaularly dexamethasone with its low NNT in COVID were interesting ones and suggest there is something to it

Glad you are OK. I am not your internist (/IANAL disclaimer) and I usually don't comment in HN medical threads as weird opinions here, but reading HN taking a break from my work, I'll say generally unless you have some reason

I’m lucky, I have a tube 2019 running jellyfin into a 5.1.2 setup through my avr and DTS/atmos + HDR10/DV work with jellyfin. I switched from kodi a few years. Do you have Dolby processing and up mix 2.0 turned off in the shield

It’s great. A stock Nvidia shield 2019 tube (!) plays 4K HDR/DV DTS content without stutter or issues with passthrough an AVR which is impressive. I can't say Kodi and various forks were able to do that, at least in the past. Lots

Re: Quebec hydro, I can’t think of an example of a crown corp or asset (see 407) being sold in Canada that has benefited the public with better quality at a lower price in the end. Privatization drives the need for shareholder profit to ex

I don't think it's likely to happen but that is what I also said about a tariff trade war with Canada until recently. The actions here aren't rationale.

I think that would just be a pretext to annex Canada much like civil disobedience in the US would be a pretext for martial law and entrenching his position. As a Canadian: nothing polite to say about the USA going forward.

I think it has become pretty clear Trump can do whatever the hell he wants because nobody will call him out or prosecute him for it.

Hopefully they also charge my government a 25% tariff for the humanitarian aid delivered by the plane a US resident damaged. /s Good grief. That must be expensive to fix.

I’d be curious re your thoughts on something like a iPhone 16 vs my d6 MkII with a 24-70 or 200 EF lens. The telephoto obviously wins at distance but for family portraits I’ve found I get better photos with the phone and I’m not sure why.

I look at it a bit directly. I shoot with a canon d6 mark 2 dslr regularly on trips up north and hiking and have spent way too much money on this stuff. While the dslr with a 200-400mm lens is superior for stuff like polar bears (yellowis
