I used to be a fanatic about tree style tabs, but due to the new api, it's unusable with containers. I recently switched over to vertical tabs for that reason. I miss the tree layout, but at least now my tabs maintain their ordering.

Yeah, I had to double check to make sure I was actually reading the Economist. Felt weird to be getting a perspective like that from them. Why the shift?

Interesting perspective. I do note that there are theories such as the bicameral mind that disagree about the lack of inner monologue in ancient cultures.

Basically, if you control the entry and exit nodes of a user, you can correlate their traffic. So, if a group had control of large numbers of servers, eventually (faster or slower depending on what proportion of tor servers they controll) t

Funny you say that. I'm the exact opposite. I consider my laptop to be much more likely to be secure than my phone.

Sorry you had such a bad time with OpenBSD. It isn't top of the heap when it comes to performance but there are benefits that balance it out. On the Linux front, I've been using Void and it has been pretty fantastic. Runit is the

The article (10.1177/0963721418755385) is available on Library Genesis under Scientific Articles. I would just post a link, but I'm not sure it would be allowed here.

Would it be difficult to set up a list of allowed signatures in Firefox? By making it unintuitive for the average user to modify, you would prevent most bad actors from succeeding but still allow power users to control their own experience.

On top of what jazzyjackson said, a lot of people correlate well-manicured lawns with property value. For instance, quite a few place won't allow vegetable gardens in the front yard. It gives an impression of poverty. Which makes me wa

This article was a great example of something that will never be useful to me, but I was still willing to sink an hour into digesting it. Fascinating read.

I've had OpenBSD on my laptop for a couple of years now, but I recently installed Void and have been very happy with it. It maintains a lot of the simplicity you get from a BSD. Although it doesn't have a lot of the advantages of

I always recommend a ThinkPad. I've been using my T420 for years and it's still holding up great. From what I've seen, the newer laptops are just as durable. I have run OpenBSD, Windows, and various Linux distributions on it

I don't log in to secure websites on my mobile device. When I'm on my computer, I have a TOTP generator available. I do still receive some 2fa via sms, but if available, I always use email or TOTP.

I have used vim/tmux/screen for almost 20 years, and while I only use a subset of the functionality, I am extremely at home in that workflow. I recently switched over to Emacs because I started spending a lot of time in Scheme. I

Can anybody explain why this tree hasn't reproduced in the last hundred years? The tree does appear to reproduce asexually. Even with a very thin soil level, I would have expected at least one seed to take root in that time frame.
