Though not actually at all Volvo dealerships. A friend of mine regularly had to go for quite a long drive to a specific Volvo dealership to get his Polestar fixed. And there were quite a few trips.

We’ve never had so few rights over our own property, and so many over that of others. I feel this acutely as I have waited years to be allowed to change a leaky roof. It's still not fixed. I've also been waiting a month for a pe

Why not? Our electric utilities complain about nonuniform load. Isn't a desalination plant an excellent variable load given that its product would get dumped into reservoirs? You could totally flatten the duck curve if you wanted.

Suppose you're a billionaire. Quite a few of them live in my town. Do you actually care at all? Do you even know what you spend on water? I'd wager not. Someone down the street from me is not a billionaire, but the property tax sa

That sounds cheap to those of us who suffer under PG&E.

I can imagine flaring might produce more soot. And of course Germany is burning other fuel instead of this gas, which is also being burned.

I did similar math with similar outcome for northern California. If the grid gets unreasonably expensive, there are alternatives. I installed a bunch of solar panels because it was cheap and easy and effective.

Multi-pane windows would probably be the easier homebrew option. You could even make the panes out of plastic film (e.g., ETFE).

Haha, yeah I bet most people who play games these days have a faster CPU than I do. My machine is eight years old.

I find that Steam decompression pegs one core of my CPU and downloads get stuck at 550-600 mbps. It would take a lot less time if it didn't compress anything.

We need to revisit these kinds of endeavors after legal reform. They're good projects; I support the CA HSR and more nuclear power. But they're doomed to be low-ROI suffer-fests until we can remove hurdles, so let's do that f

There is no recourse. So have said all three electricians who I have consulted. The PG&E project coordinator makes a decision and that's it.

California only knows how to increase red tape and hurdles to construction. I voted against the project because I thought it would be excessively slow and costly to complete as a result of the regulatory landscape. It's a fine concept.

That's exactly how replacing a fire hazard panel would cost me $80k. Random PG&E person decides it's not a like-for-like replacement (despite both being ordinary 200 amp panels) and therefore the underground feeder needs to be

Try replacing a panel. They make what ought to be routine work, hard. Only in the last couple years has it become cheaper to say screw it and not take their BS and go off grid instead. One of my neighbors already did that instead of spendin

PG&E makes it so onerous to be connected to the grid that it'll absolutely take something like this for me to stay connected. But I don't belong to the Tesla ecosystem, so this is clearly not the answer for me.

I would like such a thing to be open access and not involve Tesla at all. I should be able to profitably sell to the grid as a random person if there's need.
